“Wonderful hotel and location”
Reviewed 21 August 2013

Beautiful hotel and super location. Walk to many places of interest and foods. The boardwalk was always lively no matter the time of day. Folks very friendly everywhere we went. Wish we had more time there. Two days was hardly enough to see it all. Walked and toured most of the day. Beautiful city. go visit the Fort and the Markets.

Room Tip: GREAT Bay of Fundy clams for those of you from new England! YUM

We booked this hotel because of the type of rooms available. We were travelling with our 15 year old son and two queen beds will not do for 4 days!

We booked a king suite with kitchen/living room. It is a very large room - a separate bedroom with king bed and a combination living room /kitchen dining room. There is a queen pull out sofa. There are tvs in each room so my son had his own space - it was great.

There is a pub attached to the hotel - it is the old Alexander Keith's pub - the brewery is still there you can take a tour. Expensive 20$ each for an hour.

There is no parking at the hotel only valet at 19.95 per day - it works fine.

We stayed for 4 days at the end of July at the Courtyard Halifax and were very impressed with the bang for the buck, so to speak. Although the decor was a bit dated, the room was large, clean and had a wonderful view of the harbour and the boardwalk. The roof deck provided an especially good outlook and a great place to relax after the day's travels. Staff were very friendly and helpful, going out of their way to assist when tours or car rentals went awry. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would stay there again in a minute!

Room Tip: Ask for a king size bed and a room with a direct view of the harbour.

What a treat it was to sit on the rooftop and watch the boats in the Harbour! The staff were friendly and room was great. We had easy access to Pier 21, Harbour activities, the market and great restaurants like McKelvies and Chives Canadian Bistro.

Wonderful value for this hotel, which cost me $120 a night prepaid. Staff couldn't have been more helpful when my bag failed to arrive, provided toiletries and helped me find a place to buy a few essentials late in the evening. All aspects of service were great, food was excellent in the lobby restaurant. Overall a great stay. Only negative was that I failed to receive a requested wake up call on Saturday, which caused me to miss a scheduled tour. This is dangerous, it could have made me miss a flight. They were very apologetic about it. Otherwise, highly recommend this hotel and its friendly staff and well-appointed rooms.

In late July, we spent 2 nights in Halifax at the end of our trip to the maritimes. The location cannot be beat as you are right at the harbor in a very walkable city. We made good use of the indoor hottub and pool. Just steps away, there is a microbrewery where we enjoyed happy hour. On a future visit to Halifax, I would hope to stay here again... and take advantage of the spa also on premises.

The Courtyard Downtown Halifax is in a perfect location for eats, drinks and sightseeing. Rooms were comfortable, but extremely quite. No fans and sounding AC or heat if that matters to you. Public computer was really, really slow. We had the breakfast buffet and while it tasted good, it was really over priced. Front desk staff was oblivious to most situations. Roof top area provided excellent views of the city.
