“Terrific Choice for Halifax”
Reviewed 13 July 2010

Stayed two nights and enjoyed the hotel and surroundings immensely. Close by the Citadel, public gardens and harbor, this Courtyard measures up for amenities and location. Quite a nice spot; see if you can get an outside sitting area off your room as we did, and enjoy a relaxing view of Halifax harbor from the 8th floor Harborview Terrace.

I stayed two nights at the Courtyard and I thought this hotel was fabulous and the price was fair, I don't understand the bad reviews. I had stayed at the terribly expensive Harbourfront Marriott a week before that, and I blame myself for being so stupid, the two hotels are practically the same quality (except for the FREE internet at the Courtyard and the noisy parties at the Harbourfront, and, of course, the price difference). This is going to be my hotel in Halifax from now on. I don't have one little bad thing to say about it. Great staff too!

This was wonderfully located and surprisingly romantic. We had a great few nights here and could walk anywhere we needed to in Halifax. I would definitely recommend this to folks interested in a good location and nice rooms.

Halifax is not New York, D.C., or Boston, but this place charges for on-site parking as if it is. And it's valet parking even though the parking deck is theirs and right there at the hotel. So, if you want to get into your own car, you have to be accompanied by a valet who stands by watching over you as if you have no right to get into your own vehicle.

The room was very noisy late and early in the morning. We're not sure where the noise was coming from, but our room was directly next to a stairwell and either the very loud voices were coming from one of the outdoor patios or from the kitchen area and coming up through the stairwell. It was very loud and went on until after midnight and then started up again before 6 a.m.

The hallways smelled very odd also.

It's a big hotel. Not a great value. It is in a good location if you want to walk around Halifax.

Halifax could be seen in an afternoon and evening, so I'm glad we stayed here only one evening.

Spent five nights at Courtyard. The hotel is less than 3 years old so the rooms, furnishings and facility are in great shape. Unlike older Courtyards there is amble counterspace in the bathrooms, the rooms are clean and everything wroks well. The only things my room was missing was a luggage rack--could not figure that one out. The beds and bedding were clean and comfortable. The room was quiet.
Location is blocks to the Boardwalk, multiple resturants, and shopping. The staff was friendly.
I only visited the bar/resturant for dinner one evening. The meal was okay but there are so many resturants in the area it only takes minutes to walk to a meal and have a large selection of cuisine and price points.

Had a fantastic stay at the Courtyard Marriot!!! Absolutely loved the rooftop deck overlooking the harbour. We stay at the Marriot everytime we travel to Halifax, wouldn't stay anywhere else.

We went to Halifax for a weekend away from Prince Edward Island. What a great place to stay: so very clean, such awesome people at the front desk & the guys that worked the valet & room service were so talkative & suggested good dining & entertainment.
Must say, the terrace is the coolest spot. Tables & chairs on the roof of the hotel; overlooking the downtown with an awesome view of the harbour.. even in February, we hung outside most of our time. I would definitely suggest this place to anyone who wants to just park the car for the weekend & take in the town. Everything is just a couple blocks away, so cabbing is not required!!
