Dofskys Grill is linked to, but not owned by the Cambridge Suites Hotel. We were staying overnight, it was pouring with rain and the menu looked reasonable so we decided to stay dry and eat at Dofskys. We regretted it.
Our starters were poor. I had the steamed mussels. The sauce was ok but they were served luke warm. My wife had the Signature dip duo, which was supposed to be Mediterranean artichoke and roasted red pepper, served with corn chips and bread. The dips turned out to be two large pots of thick, unappetising, congealed and chewy cheese, with just a hint of artichoke and pepper. There was no mention of cheese on the menu. After a couple of mouthfuls she gave up on the dips.
The fish and pasta mains were a little better but again were barely warm and the Penne pasta was nicely al dente but strangely quite sticky at the same time.
Worst of all was the service. Our waitress was loud and brash. We weren't expecting five star service but were a little surprised when asking for a Nova Scotian wine recommendation to be told at full volume "I don't drink wine, my drink is rum"! No recommendation was forthcoming. This was then followed by "Do you want me to bring the pepper thing" when our main courses were served (sorry, thrown in front of us!).
We said nothing but were then somewhat surprised to be given the bill without even having been asked whether we wanted dessert or coffee (the second time that had occurred during our trip to Canada).
The hotel offered a complementary continental breakfast the next morning in Dofskys. It was reasonable and the service more subdued but we were surprised to see that they started clearing away the buffet 10 minutes before it was due to close.
We would not return.
