“very historical”
Reviewed 18 June 2014

Full size replica of the ship which brought the first settlers to Pictou, N.S. if you like history or if you Scottish connections this is for you. Learn how and why the settlers came to leave Scotland, their experiences on route, what they found in Canada and the ship, it is all here and well worth a visit.
You can also spend money in the lovely souvenir shop.

“Step in the past-”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

The town's residence got together and built a replica of the Ship hector-full size. It was used to bring the first settlers over. It's beautiful. A must see as she floats in the Pictou harbour.

“A must see!!!!”
Reviewed 14 October 2013

If you have Scottish roots this is a must see. A very well done museum with wonderful staff. Rain or shine it is worth a stop to see this display and go on the ship.

“Learning Nova Scotia history”
Reviewed 2 October 2013

We went based on good reviews and learned much about how the Scottish settled this part of Nova Scotia, arriving on the Hector, a small sailing vessel, A reproduction was adjacent to the museum. Be sure to listen to the dvd in the rigging area first. Volunteer workers making repairs took time to talk with us.
