“Cafe Europe and Waterside B&B”
Reviewed 21 May 2012

We saw the package for a night at the B&B and a three course dinner at Cafe Europe online and thought that this could be a good weekend getaway. Not knowing what to expect, this trip was a fantastic surprise. The location is absolutely beautiful and only a stone's throw from one of the most beautiful beaches in NS.

B&B
The room was nicely decorated and very comfortable. Moreover, it had a huge sundeck with chairs. The peaceful atmosphere was very relaxing. Breakfast was served in the Cafe Europe Restaurant, on the deck overlooking the Caribou River. The view is simply gorgeous and so was breakfast. Fresh fruit, cereal, yoghurt, eggs, bacon, juice, coffee, tea -- you name it they serve it.

Restaurant Cafe Europe
Specializing in Austrian dishes, Gabriele is a professional chef who cooks everything from scratch. The food is fresh and of high quality and is simply delicious. We had Schnitzel, which was sauteed and spiced to perfection -- the best Schnitzel on this side of the Atlantic! I also highly recommend the Spaetzle (comparable to Pasta) with her home-made sauce, which is amazing. Even though the portions are very generous and you may not have any room left, don't leave out dessert. The chocolate cake in particular is to die for! If you are in area, stop by there. We are definitely going back.

“A nice choice!!”
Reviewed 23 July 2011

I am Barry (the butcher) from Ontario, my wife and I recently stayed at your
fine establishment and I would just like to say thanks again for the
enjoyable experience . This was my first stay at a B&B and I am no longer
reluctant to stay at any other B&B's based on the quality, service and
cleanliness of yours. The food was fantastic at both the dinner and
breakfast meals and the shared conversation at the end of the evening was
entertaing after a long day of driving!
Thanks again

“Special Service”
Reviewed 23 September 2010

The food and service at Cafe Europe Restaurant was top-notch. Making our visit a special challenge for Gabriela and Gerhard, we included this stop as part of tightly scheduled sea-lift; when the restaurant isn't open for lunch. After a 300 km drive from the Cabot Trail, our group of 9 vintage Porsches and 18 discerning eaters needed a great meal to prepare them for the 1:45pm cue and Ferry to PEI as our tour continued. Gerhard worked with us to prepare a special lunch menu for our members. The result was a flawless execution and highly complimented food. Since we were only minutes from the Ferry terminal we treated ourselves to a beer. Stiegel, Gösser and König Ludwig weisse were enjoyed. And they’re delicious.

Vienna Schnitzel, Cheese Spätzle, Bacon Salad with Chicken strips, Smoked Pork Chops and Oktoberfest Sausages were all delivered promptly so they could be enjoyed in leisure. The desserts couldn’t be resisted in spite of all efforts. Most of the group agreed Café Europe was the best lunch and as good as the best meal on our 8 day trip. A frequent comment was “next time let's stay nearby and have many meals here”.

Thanks to our hosts.

“Owner Tries Hard to Please”
Reviewed 27 August 2010

The hosts of our B & B in Pictou had recommended the Pictou Lodge restaurant for dinner, but they were full, so we thought that we'd try Cafe Europe since it was well rated on trip advisor. The chicken schnitzel was fine as was the service. I only wish that the owner would have served some of the farm fresh, green vegetables that we had been enjoying at other restaurants over the past month during our tour of the Maritime provinces. Previously frozen and reheated carrots and turnips were unappetizing to say the least! There are much better restaurants in Nova Scotia!
