We were excited to book accomodation as a gift for our close friends. Unfortunately the attitude we received upon inquiry was not something we would like our frineds to experience. Hopefully things may change??

My husband and I have just returned home from the most amazing weekend. I am so relaxed, I barely want to speak and I want the peace I feel right now to last forever. I have experienced Sangoma!

The retreat is architecturally stunning, the surrounding bush and the sounds of the birds are tranquil and the suites are extraordinary, but it is Michael and Zenga (our hosts) who make Sangoma Retreat so very special.

Although we were strangers we were treated like special friends. It is their warmth and genuine care for you that will make your stay at Sangoma unforgettable, as ours has just been. They have put their heart and soul into every aspect of the retreat and, they delight in sharing their dream with you.

It has been over a month since my girlfriend and I spent a fabulous weekend at Sangoma (African witchdoctor) retreat. Just thinking back on it makes me feel relaxed all over again.

The rooms are secluded enough to provide the privacy needed for a romantic getaway, but close enough to feel like you're apart of something bigger. The owners/hosts definitely didn't hold back with design and decoration, and the rooms can only be described as exquisite luxury.

A highlight for me was the dinner-party-styled dining. Sangoma only caters for 3 couples at any given time which is perfect for this type of approach. This also takes off the edge to what can sometimes be an overly romantic weekend, for me at least. The meals are of a 5 star quality and will not disappoint. You definitely won’t go to bed hungry.

Hosts, Michael and Zenga, are superb and really go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and relaxed. You can really tell that this is what they love doing.

Sangoma can be a very intimate weekend away, or it can be a 48 hour dinner party. It’ll be whatever you want it to be. That’s what my girlfriend and I loved about it the most!

We'll definitely be back and would recommend it to anyone.

Ps. don't leave with out going for a swim and trying out the sauna!

From the moment we arrived at Sangoma we felt like we'd come home. The hosts were comforting, eager to please yet unobtrusive, they welcomed us into their home like we were long lost friends. Our accommodation was supurb, the most gorgoeus bed I have ever slept on, stunning views of the bush from the privacy of a secluded shower and deep bath tub. We wnt there not wanting to socialise with anyone but found the hosts so interesting and friendly we couldn't stop going up to the house for a chat! the food was amasing, wholesom, healthy and unpretentious using obviously fresh quality ingredients. We would highly recommend this place for those baby mooners about to enbark on the insanity of parent hood as well as those (like us) who needed to get away (but not too far away) and recharge our flattened batteries. We came home feeling alive again!

We Googled, we found, we booked!
We were greeted by Michael & Pundh with absolute warmth - relaxation within 5 minutes guaranteed! The pavilions are fabulous and perfect for the surroundings, awesome views & fixtures.
We then met Zenga and the perfect weekend was complete! As wonderful as the retreat is (hued from the solid surroundings over 4 years), the hosts are the true Natural Beauty!
In short, great location, fantastic ambience, brilliant food & conversation. Don't go - we want to keep this as our own special place!

The rooms are all unique and vary in floorspace but share similar features. The raised baths accommodate two people comfortably and afford magnificent views of the surrounding bush. The showers are surrounded by floor to ceiling windows so check your inhibitions at the door and concede that a little bit of exhibitionism is all part of the healing process.

Don’t expect to be abandoned for the entire weekend as Michael and Zenga will find many excuses to interject portions of their cooking, passion for the fine arts and homage to their South African heritage into your visit.

Zenga is a exquisite chef. The (included) massage by a visiting professional couple followed by surprise cake was a nice touch. But don’t you dare be late for dinner!

If you are looking for a daytime activity it is worth visiting nearby heritage towns Windsor and Richmond or the heritage gardens about 30 minutes drive up the mountain along bells line of road.

Spend your time by the pool, sauna, or curl up next to the fireplace with a good book or a good lover. Explore the secret hollows nestled around the property and generally marvel at what these two magnificent human beings have carved out of the native Australian bush with their own bare hands.

You will savour the experience for a long time afterwards.
