“good value for get away”
Reviewed 21 August 2014

Room was excellent, clean, nice bath very nicely remodeled, although outside reminded us of a tired motel, breakfast was just OK as pastery was stale, fruit ah few days old, nonetheless good value for a weekend visit to the Fergus festival

Room Tip: Had end room second floor great location to door for luggage from car and quiet as we were furthest...

We needed a place to stay in the area and we usually have good experience with Best Western hotels. This location is right next to the university and other amenities.

We were a bit concerned at first that we might get a bit of noise from the busy nearby road, but the design of the place seems to keep things fairly quiet.

The rooms are quite generous in size compared with the average..nice when you are going to be there a few days. Having the small fridge was also welcome.

Complaints: The beds were quite uncomfortable. The padding was minimal and support inadequate; one of the beds was worse than the other. This isn't good when you're running a hotel and it's not something I encounter often.

The second item was several repair related items; certain lamps not working, a broken closet door, loose toilet and moldy shower curtain. The last item is due to how they tie up the curtain every day; it has no chance to dry properly.

On a positive note the place is otherwise clean, the staff friendly and the continental breakfast well executed. I would likely look for somewhere else to stay next time however due to the beds.

First of all the staff were very friendly and helpful. We arrived later in the evening and after parking came in a back entrance. The hallway had a very stale smell, so not a good start. Was disappointed in our room. We had a room with a King size bed in it. The room was rather small, needed to be updated and had a faint urine like smell to it. Maybe at this point we should have asked to have a different room, but it was late in the evening and since it was only for one night, didn't feel it was worth the hassle. The bed was actually pretty comfortable and the free breakfast, although pretty basic, filled us up and got us on our way. Would I stay again? No, there are plent of other hotels in very close range that are priced about the same that I would try first.

Hotel was great, clean and the staff very friendly. Entrance to the hotel was a bit tricky to find but once you find it, it is easy. The room we had was very nice, clean and comfortable. We stayed for 3 nights and had no problems.....but, be careful where you park your vehicles. I parked my mustang under the trees closest to Gordon and wound up with sticky tree sap all over it. Not good for the paint not to mention the vision out of your windshield. I parked in the middle of the lot after that night and solved the problem.

This is an older hotel but was renovated 5 years ago. The picture of the room on the internet was exactly the same in person. We had a large room with a cathedral ceiling. Very comfortable and quiet as this section of rooms were only on one side of the hallway. Breakfast was included and actually good. The swimming pool is a rare outdoor one. Nice to be outside in the summer. All this for the best and very reasonable price in town. We will definitely go back. I'd recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a cathedral ceiling.

Nothing great. Room clean, if a little tired. Breakfast OK. Staff good. Reasonable price and comfortable. Ideal if on business at the University or for a conference. Plenty of parking. Good location for University.
