“French Petit Dejeuner in @DowntownGuelph”
Reviewed 30 April 2014

Eric and his team, in 4 short months have captured the hearts of Guelphites and our tourism visitors. They produce very high quality french pastries and breads, including the amazing apple pastry with maple syrup glaze. Coffee is always hot and cafe au lait are wonderful. Don't get too cosy just yet, it's really takeaway. Once Eric has a patio with a view of all that happens on Carden Street, you will fall in love with the way breakfast should be made. Great food, great staff. Wonderful to hear so much french being spoken by the adoring customers! Bon Appetit!

“It was worth the drive from Waterloo, Ontario”
Reviewed 27 April 2014

This is a true French bakery: wonderful pastries and breads, a small selection of baguettes sandwiches. For example: blueberry and almond tarts (on shortbread crusts), eclairs with a coffee-flavored cream filling, bread pudding, dense chocolate brownies ... oh my! There are 4 high stools at a tiny eat-in counter by the window: not too comfortable to sit at, but the quality and taste of the baked goods and specialty coffees make up for the cramped quarters if you decide to "eat in" rather than "take out".

“Best Bakery in Guelph”
Reviewed 16 April 2014

I frequent Eric's about once a week. If he happens to be making cinnamon buns you must try these (usually Saturday late afternoon). I love the soup and quiche and so far all of the pastries are fabulous (unfortunately I have tried most of them). Remember, they only take cash!

“A wonderful addition to Guelph's downtown”
Reviewed 6 April 2014

My wife and I travelled to France for our honeymoon almost a decade ago and we still reminisce about all the wonderful bakeries we ate at while there. Till now, that experience was not available to Guelphites... enter Eric the Baker...

My wife and I took a walk downtown this afternoon and stopped by for the first time and we're so glad we did.

The food is absolute perfection. Just what you'd expect to find in a French patisserie.

Highlights include the baguette sandwiches (we both had the Brie, lettuce and tomato), the coffee ( I had a cappuccino and she had a cafe au lait), and the pastries (we both enjoyed a pain au chocolat that was exactly like we remembered in our favourite Parisienne cafe).

This place is a must visit.

“A wonderful addition to Guelph!”

So happy that Eric the Baker is open. The best bread, croissant and pastries in Guelph. Everything we have tried has been perfect. Eric is a very friendly person & clearly loves what he does.
