“AMAZING Deluxe room - WOW.”
Reviewed 8 April 2013

This room was absolutely amazing. There's a little living room and the bedroom is separate. A mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, etc.... It was amazing. We were able to have friends join us in the living room. The bed was comfortable, and everything was clean. The people at the front desk were very friendly and helpful as well!

Room Tip: We had room 428. ;)

Recently, had a short stay at this hotel for business. The room overlooked the conference centre parking lot. Although the bed and pillows were comfortable there was an incessant noise that sounded like some sort of heavy machinery or construction that lasted a few hours well into the night which prevented me from sleeping. Also, I there was no regular tv reception on the hi-tech LG, the only options available were pay per view movies and advertisements.

The room was modern and clean with a comfortable queen size bed and ample size shower. I checked out at at 7:45 am and would have appreciated a small coffee bar with a small selection of breakfast items that I could have purchased to go or eaten in the lobby as I waited for my ride rather than having to commit to eating in the restaurant.

Being in Guelph Ontario I think it only fitting that this Delta Hotel be more on the green side. It is just across the street from Moo U. Although I didn't see any staff wearing Wellington Boots (in Wellington Country) the room does have green features that controls electricity consumption when you are out of the room. Note! Before calling the front desk to turn on the TV, be sure you have turned on the power to the room. The switch is at the door.

Very nice room and I appreciated the smart use of space. Very comfortable, I would stay again.

Cool Lobby or Cold Lobby? You decide.
Just seems rather unfriendly space. Not sure what it needs. Perhaps some music and some carpets would warm it up.

Had the opportunity to stay in this hotel while on business in Guelph. The hotel was within walking distance from my place of business. Nice rooms and good service. The restaurant has a good buffet breakfast and nice food for dinners as well. Worth the stay.

There's nothing not to like about this top notch choice in the university town of Guelph. The Delta's are always well-run and staffed in my 10 year experience with the chain but this purpose-built property is one of their best in my opinion. From the very responsive staff to the spotless mini-suites to the restaurant-bar option to the conference facilities there's nothing they don't do extremely well.

Located in a business park in close proximity to the university, corporate offices, and the light industrial areas it's easy to navigate. Plenty of nearby dining options. Right on one of the major routes into the city.

I've stayed here for half a dozen visits and it's always a pleasure to return.

Room Tip: They're all good. Sound-proofing was good. I've never heard noise from the hallway or adjace...

Check In - Cold (weather and service). The girl behind the counter on Jan 31 was simply going through the motions and wasn't warm and friendly like other hotel check in. I had warmer service at Starbucks.
Room:
clean and dark. With all the lights on the queen suite was dark. The TV that was mounted on the wall was too high and was uncomfortable watching from the sofa. The TV in the bedroom was better since it was at eye level. The heater came on too often and was LOUD. Finally - toilet was backed up and didn't flush very well - did tell front desk at check out.
Bed:
Comfortable as was the pillow.
Restaurant:
Food was good but service was cold and simply going through the motions - what is it with this hotel and restaurant???
Check Out:
Service was better - professional but not much warmer.

There are plus - minus of this hotel and not sure if I would stay at a Delta for personal reasons.

Room Tip: Don't expect warm friendly service. Good hotel but service is ... : (

Stayed at the Delta Guelph a couple weekends ago with my Fiance in a Luxury Suite to celebrate our anniversary and her Birthday. Before arriving, we called to see if we could check in early, and the lady at the front desk was rude and hardly wanted to accommodate our request, as if it was such a bother. I have done this with other Hotels before and have always been accommodated or spoken to nicely about it, so you could understand how the rude attitude was not appreciated and not a good start to their Customer Service. I could understand if the Hotel was very busy, but when we arrived, it was hardly busy at all and the lady who checked us in even commented on how it wasn't too busy that weekend. We checked in and got to the room, where we arrived to our Suite. It is in fact a beautiful Suite, however there were some glitches in the room, which disappointed us. I too agree that the one light switch that links the lights all together is a rather big inconvenience, but what was more of an inconvenience was when my Fiance went to use the Whirlpool and the drain would not open and release the water. She wasn't even able to have a bath because when the jets were turned on, water went everywhere and she tried to drain it a bit, BUT it would not release. She had to get out of the tub and contact maintenance. Maintenance arrived and it turned out that the latch was actually broken and had to be replaced, which was done within a half hour or so, BUT again, what an inconvenience. We also noticed a lot of noise from the window in the bedroom and thought it was a bit cold, but didn't think anything of it, because we assumed it was the noise from the road, as the room is located right by the main road, but at night, we realized that the window didn't even close properly, so we woke up to a draft and a freezing room, because it was quite cold outside and we even had the heater on at a decent temperature. Last thing I thought of in the middle of the night was to call maintenance. We also noticed that the runner at the bottom of the bed and display pillows on the bed were dirty, not too impressed by that either. We had dinner at the restaurant because we had a voucher and that experience was terrible as well. We waited a long time for our meals and seemed to have been forgotten because other people got their meals before we did. This did not go unnoticed because the Manager tried to rectify the situation with a free dessert and apologized several times for the delay. Needless to say, not too happy that our meals got forgotten. We paid the remainder of the bill before we left the restaurant and left the waitress a tip as well. When we went to check-out the next morning, we smelt cigarette smoke in the hallways and it was evident that somebody was smoking in a non-smoking hotel. We understand you can't control what Guests do, but still was not impressed by the smell of smoke in the Hotel. We also had to walk by empty dishes lined up along the hallway from other people's room service a couple of times that morning, which was kind of gross, because Housekeeping was just down the hall and they didn't bother to clean it up. When we went to check out we were told we owed money from Dinner from the previous night ... Wait a minute ... We paid the remainder of that bill when we left the restaurant and we even tipped the waitress and here we are told we owe the remainder of the bill and gratuity to the waitress! The Manager on Duty was the one who was actually checking us out and she was the one who advised us that we had to pay the difference on the bill. When we raised a concern about it, because we had already paid it, she quickly got rid of that bill. It makes me wonder how not only did the restaurant not provide the proper service, it was now trying to double charge us as well. How many guests are quick to check out with a credit card and not notice something like that? Clearly this is how a few extra bucks can be made on Delta's end. We then brought our concerns forth about the broken bath-tub situation, the terrible service at the restaurant, the window not closing properly, the dirty dishes in the hallway, the smoke and I'm sure there was probably more I am forgetting, to the Manager, to which she responded with 'anytime there is a concern, you should definately let us know right away,' printed our bill and didn't seem to be too concerned, which again was disappointing. After further discussing the situation and advising how disappointed we were, basically pushing the situation more, which I did not think was necessary after the list we just supplied to her, she apologized and said she'd be sending us a complimentary stay in a standard room at their Hotel in the mail by the end of the week and would certainly follow up our concerns with her Manager and contact us. Seeing as we stayed in a Luxury Suite and had the issues with that Suite, I think we should be accommodated with something of equal value to rectify the situation, but none the less, something is better than nothing and it seemed like it was heading in the right direction. However, a few weeks later and here we are with no mail, or return calls from the so called Manager who was to follow up with us, even after we were told they were going to and left a few messages. Needless to say, our experience was disappointing and hope that this matter gets resolved and the Hotel actually does contact us to review further and hopefully others don't have the same issues we did!!
