Good park for rollerblading or letting the kids ride their bikes. Good paved loop and waterfront trail. Lots of green space and nice views.

Suggest the mini-train trip around the Bayfront area (over 1 hr in length) with stops along the way if you wish and only $5. for using on and off all day. Clean attractive restaurant on site, lovely harbour views, rent inline skates for large rink, or book a boat tour of the Bay out to the Lake. Mostly adults coming in on tour buses to the restaurant area, as children's water and play area is further along the tram line. With kids be prepared to make it at least the whole afternoon.

The park is located in the north end of Hamilton at the intersection of Bay and Strachan streets. The park is a favourite for the locals and there is plenty to do. It is a waterfront park reclaimed from former industrial lands. The park has a plethora of walking trails along the lakeshore. One longer walk is to the west and goes to Princess Point a few miles away. All the trails are paved and suitable for bikes and skating.

The park has picnic tables and any number of benches to have a picnic at. The whole area has a view of Hamilton harbour. Grassy fields and treed areas make for a easy afternoon. The park also has a free boat launch. It is well used and provides an entertaining spot to watch the goings on. The lakeshore is inhabited by a flock of Swans. These birds breed in the spring and their nests are a point of interest along the trails. Lots of people feed the birds, but it has grown out of hand and it is no longer recommended.

On Canada Day there are fireworks and on other days there are events like the Dragon Boat races. Free parking makes it all the more worth visiting. Nearby is the National Historic Site the HMCS Haida. Along the waterfront past the marinas are a couple of restaurants. The Waterfront Trolley travels through the park. I have travelled to various city parks and in my opinion this one ranks in the top ten Canadian city parks along side of Stanley Park in Vancouver, Point Pleasant Park in Halifax, and High Park in Toronto, to name a few. Pack up the whole family or come as you are and visit the Bay Front Park.
