Used to go here all the time on school trips, loved the swimming and quiet setting. Nice place for a family outing.

We had a great time for 3 days, really enjoyed the beach, canoeing and fishing. Poison ivy all around our campsite and on the hiking trails caused us to end our trip too early. While park staff kept the campground and beach clean they should do more to control poison ivy around the campsites and hiking trails.

Valens offers so many things to do, they have a great camping area, beach, trails, bridge over the water, go for the day or stay for the weekend, my two little boys love going to valens.

We have camped here for the last 5 years, if you camp in the older section the sites are welled tree and some are excellent for privacy. The fishing is just okay but great for kids as they can catch small fish all day. THe beach area is excellent with sand and then a nice grassy area with some nice trees to lounge and enjoy the shade.

They have an Alcohol ban to keep away the rowdies and keep it a family place but with that being said they don't check your coolers and aren't looking for it as long as you behave and you can here the clangs of bottles in the night times as campers grab a cold one for their fires. over an excellent spot not far from the African Lions Safari.
