This review is overdue but it is worth posting (I travelled in May 2010 and May 2009 staying here).

Absolutely no issues with this hotel. Both times I stayed here, the checkin was extremely fast, and the room I was given was clean, and very modern looking. Beds are very comfortable for sleeping. There are many places to eat within walking distance and a plaza conveniently located across the street with a variety of shops and services available in it.

I would recommend this hotel to any traveller on any sort of trip.

Room Tip: I would ask for rooms on the upper floor as I found a 1st floor room can carry noise from above

We stay at this hotel frequently. It is clean, and the staff is great. Facilities are super for what it is, an HI Express. Location suits us for access to the main highway (401) and our daughter's school.

On the plus side, very clean rooms, friendly staff, large rooms (we had a mini-suite sort of extended room), complimentary local and national newspapers and wireless, and breakfast meets the requirements for a quick start to the day. Coffee was good.

On the down side (and I realise some of these are chain standards set for HI Express hotels and beyond the control of the manager), the rooms are DARK DARK DARK. The bathroom desperately needs a close-up mirror and brighter by at least 3 fold lights. Even the lounge area of the room is very dark. And I know the chain dictates plastic coffee cups and water glasses in the rooms, but that is not particularly environmentally friendly.

In addition, room 312 (and I suspect all the x12 rooms) had invasive HVAC noise that started and stopped 24/7 and made sleep difficult. The staff was unaware of the issue.

All that said, we'll go back, but request a different room.

Room Tip: Stay away from rooms ending in x12, there appears t be an HVAC issue. Otherwise, stay her unless you want to be downtown.

Thank you for the review, we appreciate your feedback. You are correct, some of the things you have mentioned are dictated by brand standards and therefore somewhat out of our control. However, the comfort and satisfaction of our guests is our absolute priority so we will certainly look into these issues. Overall, we are glad to know that enjoyed many aspects of our hotel and that you will be staying with us again.

I love staying at this location as parking and breakfast are included in the room price. The hotel is spotlessly clean. Check-in without any issues. The room is modern and clean. I love having a small fridge and a microwave in the room.

There are a number of restaurants if you are wanting to eat close by, ranging from a Denny's to Swiss Chalet, Boston Pizza, and East Side Mario's; all are within walking distance. For the shopper, the outlet mall is also close by.

This location offers easy access to the 401 (at Division Street) but you are only minutes from downtown Kingston or Kingston General Hospital.

This location is normally our 'first-choice' when staying in Kingston. Try to get a cheaper rate if possible (government/CAA etc)

The beds are very comfortable with extra pillows. The building is quiet for a great sleep!

Stayed here for two nights in early January for my daughter's hockey tournament. Convenient location off the 401 as many of the arenas were far - had to travel to Napanee twice. Rooms were good size for two of us - we shared 1 king bed. Only complaint is that our shower head didn't work well. Didn't use the pool but the breakfast each morning was convenient to have. Would stay here again when in Kingston.

We came for the Scottie's Tournament of Hearts at the KRock center and the downtown Holiday Inn - Waterfront was booked up so we elected to stay at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Kingston, just off the 401 and Division Street. Drive to the Memorial Center Arena and parked for free while taking the shuttle buses, again free. Room was large, comfortable and clean. Especially liked the Jacuzzi tub after sitting for 7.5 hours per day in a hockey arena seat. Breakfast was excellent, including a western omellette with bell peppers, a first! Hotel gave us late checkout when requested. We would stay there again.
