This gritty display gives you a strong indication of what hell life in KP was like.
We were lucky enough to acquire tickets for the actual Penn tour just days after last inmates where transferred. It was a once in a life time experience. Some locals were upset that they missed out on tickets after living there for years. (I felt for them. Should have had more opportunities for locals)
Our guide was former guard and we also had a couple of retired guards in the tour group. Lots of great tales of prison life. Saw Bernardo's isolation digs among many other notorious inmate sights.
Kingston is a great city and near the lake in summer in unbeatable. Lots of cool pubs and restaurants. Two thumbs up!

Went on the trolley tour and got off at this stop.
We were not disappointed, very interesting and informative.
The original gents and ladies prison are now closed. But, the museum gives a good insight as to what it would have been like.
Definatley Worth a visit

I must say I didn't expect much from this place when we dropped in - but it certainly proved a worthwhile visit. Located across the street from the now decommissioned Kingston penitentiary it is housed in the old Warden's quarters. The exhibits pertain to all the penitentiaries across Canada and proved quite interesting. It includes a sampling of many of the homemade weapons produced illicitly by prisoners amongst many other items. The guide was particularly informative and entertaining.

Tour is a smaller caretakers house outside the main institution. I would have liked to tour the actual prison.
