Stayed here on a long road trip from Vermont to southern Michigan. Very basic rooms, but friendly staff and clean as a whistle. Fresh, ironed sheets. Fridge worked. Good shower. TV reception good - there was an all-night film festival featuring the best of Canadian comics on one of the motel cable channels. Been a while since I watched 3 Rick Moranis films back-to-back! Brilliant, and totally matched my mood and the accomodations at the time...

Cheap "Beer Store" outlet right down the street. Tim Horton's within walking distance. Room quiet. Neighborhood might seem a little sketchy to some folks, but I'm a grownup dude accustomed to hardscrabble mill towns in northern New England, so I'm hardly intimidated by a few welfare drunks hanging around. Lock your car, though. Spotted several decent-looking hookers within earshot of this motel, but was unable to explore such possibilities since I was travelling with my wife...

Not exactly a place I'd book for a long-term vacation, but perfectly adequate if you're just driving from point "A" to point "B". Should be a good, friendly, cheap motel for bikers on a long putt.

Stayed: July 2005

Not much has changed, well the owners have. It is the best of a bad lot of motels along Dundas street. If economy is what you seek, this is the place. Basic, but clean rooms which have dated bathrooms. TV's work and they have phones and a desk, plus a fridge in many rooms. The air/heaters work. Like any motel along this strip they can have "weekly" renters who party hard or who have late night visitors but the management does try to control these situations.

The Dundas East area (the old Hwy 2 from Windsor - Toronto - Montréal) is not the best that London has to offer; there are plenty of dirt-cheap low-end independent motels (often not much more than $C50/night) but the quality of many of them has sadly declined since this road was bypassed by the 401 in the mid-1960's.

It's possible that with colour cable TV, free local 'phone, a small 'fridge in-room and window air conditioners, the Knights Inn White Village could be one of the more palatable of the Dundas East choices, but in some ways (shower stalls instead of proper bathtubs in some rooms) this old building is beginning to show its limitations.

There is no on-site restaurant (although a Tim Horton's doughnut shop is less than a block away) and no pool or recreational facilities.

Accommodations are single-story motel style (outside corridors) with metal keys (not cards) to lock the doors.

The standard of housekeeping here is adequate but not perfect (look in the hard-to-reach corners and you may see some dust on the furnishings); the smoking rooms do smell of stale cigarettes but there are a few non-smoking rooms available.

The facility is adequate, but unless you're on the tightest of budgets or need to be on the old road for some reason, better modern name-brand hotels may be found at moderate/midrange prices (often near $C100) in London's south end (Wellington Rd & 401).
