Review of Westminster Ponds

Westminster Ponds
Ranked #20 of 89 things to do in London
Attraction details
Reviewed 24 February 2012

The ponds are located directly behind the Tourism London building on Wellington Road South. 200 hectares of nature trails, ponds, trees, plants & flowers. Stretch your legs after your drive to London, Ontario. This Environmentally Significant Area has 5 large kettle ponds formed after the ice sheet receded 13,000 yrs ago. There are 11 km of managed, gently rolling trails. Dogs must be kept on a leash & no bicycles. More than 200 species of birds have been recorded in the area. Watch for turtles, salamanders, beavers, deer and squirrels. Boardwalks and floating docks have been built to minimize damage to the lowland areas. Pick up a pamplet describing the geology, history and wildlife of the area at the tourism centre. Washrooms are in this building also. The trails are open year round.
