“Beautiful view of the Falls”
Reviewed 27 July 2014

We were on the 15th floor with an outstanding view of the Falls. The room was big, clean and quiet. Check-in staff were welcoming, efficient and gave valuable information regarding the area. The bar area had an excellent variety of beer and wine. Their appetizers were unique and very, very good.

Room Tip: Get a Falls-view room.

The big hook for the Marriott Fallsview Hotel is that the rooms look directly over the falls - and make no mistake, that's pretty impressive - but if it's worthwhile or not will depend on how much time you spend in your room gazing out the window.

The property is expensive to stay on - we paid around $300/night for a "premium fallsview" room (attached photo from 15th floor), with a king-size bed and a Jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. The bathroom had windows that opened up to see a bit of a view (see other photo), but not really worth the upgrade - we had hoped the Jacuzzi tub would be much closer to the window.

It's also fairly expensive to stay in for amenities ($35/night for valet parking, though it does come with in/out privileges), bottled water in your room (almost $7 per-bottle). You'll also be paying extra for in-room Wi-Fi ($10/day). Fortunately we had LTE coverage and tethering.

It might be worth it for a single night, but you might be better advised to stay "off-strip" (in Vegas terms), and just see the falls out walking around for the day, which is almost as good.

Room Tip: Look for low room numbers - they're towards the left side of the hotel, and will give you a bett...

We had room 1527 with a fantastic view. The view was so great we splurged on room service breakfast so we could just sit and look out the window. Room service breakfast was about the same price as the Sunday brunch downstairs and really quite good.

Conveniently located at what I would consider a quieter end of town (stayed on Clifton Hill later in the week), easy access to the incline down to the falls and while pricey, everything in Niagara is pricey so get you have to get over that pretty quickly.

Check-in was interesting. We were with another couple and we both booked the same time for the same room category several months prior. When I called to ask about being on the same floor, our friends, who had an accessible room, were in on a higher floor so we had to pay another $25 per night to be close to them. But then we got discount cards checking in and they did not. When they got to their room it was disgusting, nasty sheets, dirty room. Like someone was still there. The manager was called up and they ended up with coupon cards too.

We ate at the Terrapin Grill for convenience the first night and both the service and food were excellent. We had steak, the rainbow trout, prime rib and they were really nice about bringing out the bread right away because we were starving. Wine prices for really good local wines were pretty reasonable. The coupon cards definitely took some of the sting out of the cost and were the reason we tried the grill, I would say we'd eat there again without a discount in the same situation, first night in, tired and hungry. It was that good.

Our friends used the spa and had a couple of decent pedicures. Not quite what we get at home and really expensive ($85 each - but with a $40 off coupon so $45 each - not worth $85, but Ok for $45).

The extra pricey Starbucks in the lobby had decent breakfast sandwiches for $6, we did that most mornings.

Bed was comfy, nice sheets, there was a vent we could open and hear the falls, room had a great view, management was responsive to the room issue and overall it was a very good stay.

Room Tip: Room 1527 had a great view of the fireworks - ask them to give you a room on that side if you are th...

We were booked in swiftly. We are a family of 4 with two boys aged 10 and 7 and were booked into a big room with a pull out couch by the window, lucky boys got the most beautiful view. Room no. 1919 smelt a bit damp when we first walked in but luckily one got used to it quite quickly and forgot all about it once we looked out the window.
Wendy from housekeeping worked very well and spoilt our boys by arranging their sleeping teddies beautifully on their pillows. That was very special to them.
Darlene, the tour organiser in the lobby, organised our tour, which included the view of the falls from all angles: from the side, behind, on top and almost underneath. It is well worth it doing the whole tour.
There is a Starbucks in the lobby for a quick snack or even for breakfast.
The hotel also has an indoor pool, which the children thoroughly enjoyed.
Our bathroom was very big and had a shower as well as a big jacuzzi tub.
We could watch the fireworks, that they have on a Friday and a Sunday, which were absolutely stunning, from our room.
When you check in though, just ask if there are any restaurant vouchers. We forgot to ask and we heard afterwards that there were some available.
All in all this is definately a superb hotel with staff that go the extra mile.

Room Tip: A higher floor for beautiful views

My husband and I booked a falls view room. The view did not disappoint. It looked exactly as advertised. This hotel is conveniently located near the lift that takes you to one of the main welcome centers. This made it easy to book our events as well as catch the WeGo buses that take you along the main attractions in the park. The hotel was very clean which is why we usually book the Marriott when we travel. I did not eat there as I don't usually enjoy hotel food which is always over priced anyway. Because it is located on a main street, arrival is a little rushed as the valets have to move the vehicles out quickly. There also appears to be a shortage of bell persons. Aside from that, the employees at the desks were polite and helpful. We would stay there again.

I'll keep this short.

We decided to take a three day road trip up to Niagara from DC. After looking and looking we decided on the Marriott Fallsview. We were upgraded to a 14th floor suite. This was great as there was a jacuzzi tub in the room that virtually overlooked falls. Rooms were clean, large and well appointed.

Some points:

Get ready to pay through the nose for parking ($20 per day I think), just accept it. Even if you found one of those overnight lots for half the price or a casino lot, you'd be wondering all night about vandals, towing, etc.

Breakfast buffet was pretty good and bountiful. Though my son, daughter and I got food poisoning that involved vomiting, diarrhea and nausea that began between 24-48 hours after our last meal there and lasted about 24-36 hours. Can't say for sure it was the buffet, but that was our only identical meal. We only ate the buffet because it came with our package, otherwise we would have found a local joint for breakfast.

A excellent restaurant for Italian food is Napoli (if you have a craving), many of the locals go there.

Take a trip up to St. Catharines if you get a chance and have a meal overlooking the lake.

Be prepared to spend more money that you would expect as this is exclusively a tourist destination.

Room Tip: high floor for best falls view

We had just one night here to do 'the falls'. View from our room was fantastic - as other travellers have said, amazing view of both falls. Our only disappointment was not being on a higher floor (we were on 7th) but our room was great. We ordered wine from room service - expensive ! But everything is in Niagara! One night was great, wouldn't recommend a longer stay!
