Stayed here two nights just prior to Labor Day. Absolutely LOVED the location - the falls are at the bottom of Clifton Hill and an easy walk. Lots going on up and down the street - restaurants, attractions, stores. Great energy. And FREE parking, which was very nice - we did not use our car at all - just walked or rode the WeGo bus. But - and this is a biggie - there is an outdoor karaoke bar/pizza place in the middle to the hotel property. The MC is great at promoting his business and getting people to participate - many that probably shouldn't. However, it goes on until 2 am, and it is loud! In all fairness, the hotel staff advised us of this prior to actually checking in. I just had no idea it would be that noisy. Stayed in room 530 - needed updating, but was clean. Bed was okay as far as comfort, but I know that is a subjective thing. The walkway going to the room was right behind the "kitchen" of the bar/pizza place, so that was some additional noise at 2 am when they were cleaning up. I don't know if a different location would have been any better or not.
Bed was too uncomfortable. No good sleep I left before daylight to head home as I was too sore and unable to sleep
Booked the room by calling the 1-800 number for the travellodge in Niagara Falls. The room sounded perfect. It was called the family room because it had 3 beds, fridge and Microwave. Free Parking, Wifi and Breakfast. We arrived a little bit early to check in. We were given a parking past and told to come back. When we did go back to check in, we were told we had the family room at the Thriftlodge which is connected to the Travellodge. We were given coupons for $3.00 off our breakfast not free breakfast, until my husband had a discussion with the staff at which time they did end up giving us coupons for a complimentary breakfast. The Free Wifi was a hit or miss. The free Parking is outside of a bar. When we got into our room it was aweful, it smelt of old beer, the door didn't close all the way, it looked like it hadn't been updated since the 70's and strangers where sitting outside our door smoking-our room was suppose to be smoke free-the smell of cigarettes came in the room everytime someone sitting outside had a cigarette.. It did have 3 beds, but what the website or 1-800 customer service rep. does not tell you is that your balcony is facing the NIAGARA FALLS BEER GARDEN/KARAOKE BAR. I tried finding another room at a different hotel but of course everything was bboked on a Saturday Night. We heard drunk people yelling and trying to sing until almost 2:00am. I am totally disgusted with this hotel having a "family room" pretty much in the middle of a bar. We worried the whole time we were out of our room because of all the drunk rowdy people hanging outside our room. We pretty much didn't sleep all night and even cancelled the next night and went home early because we were too tired to enjoy anything else. All I have to say is THANK YOU TRAVEL/THRIFT LODGE FOR RUINNING OUR ONLY FAMILY VACATION WE HAD IN OVER 3 YEARS. I will be telling everyone I know about the bad experience we had at your hotel.
