Ramada Niagara Falls by the River
Ranked #34 of 128 Hotels in Niagara Falls
Reviewed 13 November 2013 via mobile

Stayed there over a weekend with my wife visiting Niagara Falls. This hotel is a great value: Clean Hotel, Free Breakfast and Comfortable Accommodations.

Staff at Front Desk were pleasant and even Housekeeping Staff who greeted us all the time (I find that important).

Complimentary breakfast was really good - a great variety.

Only negative: Location. It's a far distance walk to the Falls and all the attractions including restaurants and night life. You need a car to commute but the drive is less than 4 minutes - so not that bad.

We have stayed at this hotel 4 different times over the last couple of years and we have always been impressed with the cleanliness and great staff. Great quick start breakfast. We use this hotel as a base for bicycling the Niagara River Recreation Trail. We request a ground floor so we can bring our bikes in at night and they always accommodate us. We will definetly stay here again.

We stayed one night, being locals my girls just wanted a night out and a pool to swim in. Check in went smoothly, we were assigned room 315.
The staff were all friendly, the hotel is not in the area where all the attractions are, which was okay since we were going to go out for dinner.
The hotel is very clean, but it showing it's age. It's looking worn here and there. The walls were pretty thin, we were next to some seniors watching tv till late with the the volume on so high we could hear clearly.
All night I kept waking, smelling smoke. We were in a non smoking room, but we must have been close to the smoking rooms, because I could smell it all night, it was awful!
My friend had a shower in the morning, or tried to. She couldn't get it to turn on and washed her hair in the sink instead.
When asked how our night was, we mentioned the shower and she informed us that we have to pull really hard on the dial, she's rec'd many calls that morning about people not knowing how to operate it. They should either fix this, or make signs so people know.
Breakfast was plentiful and good variety, we were impressed with the amount of seating available as well.
Probably would not stay here again, but it wasn't horrible.

Room Tip: Avoid 315 if you don't like smoke smell

We enjoyed our time at this hotel, as we were here for 2 nights. Everytime I stay somewhere, I ask myself four basic questions. Is it clean? Is it comfortable? Is it safe? Would I stay here again? The answer is yes to all of these.

The service here was very well done. Check in (and out) was very quick and courteous. The staff would always say hello when they saw us (this includes the housekeeping!) and everything was spotless as far as cleanliness. The breakfast was typical Hampton Inn, which means muffins/doughnuts, a various selection of cereals, yogurt, fresh fruit, waffle station, along with hot food (eggs and sausage one day, omelets and bacon the next).

If you're a big recreation and fitness person, there is a small gym with hand weights, medicine balls, a treadmill, an exercise bike and another machine (elliptical?). It's nice, newer equipment as well. The pool is a good size and is heated (if you're there in cooler weather, you'll appreciate this). The spa/jacuzzi is a good size, but does not put out a lot of jets. There is also a dry sauna you can use as well, although it takes a good amount of time to heat up.

As others have said, it's a great location because it's away from the hustle and bustle of the more "tourist area" but is still well close enough to everything. The staff says its 1.5 miles (2.5 km) to the falls, which may be a bit of a stretch, as its probably more like 2 miles to the American falls and 2.5 miles to the Horseshoe falls. That being said, there is a great bus system if you choose to use it and it's MUCH cheaper than parking near the falls (the rate we saw was $5 for 30 minutes for street parking). There is also a trail that goes all the way from the falls to the hotel (and beyond in either direction) that is plenty wide enough.

The hotel does not look like a typical Hampton from the outside, but once you get inside its got the same great quality that I've come to expect.

Room Tip: Higher up and on the "south side" for better views!

We spent 2 nights November 3rd & 4th and again we enjoyed our stay. We have stayed at this hotel several times now and find it to be consistant. It delivers the comfort and cleanliness that I like and need when we travel. The breakfast is very good and plentiful with variety. eggs, sausage, waffles, toast, bagels, fruit, cereal, juice and the incredible donuts. I really am quite comfortable at this hotel.

stayed here for a week while on our honey moon. the price is good but you make up for it in bus passes or to pay parking because it is about 2 miles away from all the attractions. except white water walk right across the street. hotel looks good from the out side and in the lobby. breakfast area. Breakfast was average. but the room was very out dated. pealing wall paper a cracked window just not what you would except from a Hampton. We did ask for a smoking room, and the second you opened the door you could tell it was a smoking room. then it had no ash tray. the house keeper seemed to do the bare minimum. replace towels, make bed, and replenish the little free shampoos and coffees. but that was it, didn't even bother to pick up my disposable water cup with cigarette butts in it or bring an ash tray. otherwise its a quite, fair price, kind of close hotel. next time i look for a "nice" hotel i will probably pass up on the Hamptons. we were in room 201 the whirlpool suit.

This hotel needs a redo. Smells of smoke the minute you walk in. Case goods are in poor shape. Reservations not accurate. Hotel tried to put us in an occasional smoking room???? Housekeeping poor to many hairs in the bathroom especially the hair dryer. Breakfast I have had better at other Hampton Inns.
