We booked a room overlooking the falls and I asked for a high floor, and we got a corner room on the 12th floor. Had an amazing view on the horseshoe falls and a pretty amazing view of the fireworks over the american falls at night. Cheapest you can get for the view. The hotel itself is a little plain, not that very clean, temperature is always either too warm or too cold in the rooms no matter how often you tweak with the thermostat, the pool is tiny and crowded, their parking is a total joke, charged us way too much for such small parking spaces, I was worried about getting my car dented during our stay. They gave us codes for the WifI that were both not working. Overall, it's pretty okay for a short stay, you get to enjoy the view. I wouldn't stay there for a week long trip though.

Room Tip: Get a fallsview room!

Good day,

Thank you for your recent review, we have just recently changed our WIFI as we were experiencing some problems with the previous service. We are just finishing the final touches to our renovation, we do hope that you will return to see all the improvements through out our building.

This hotel offers the best views around of the falls. We saw the fireworks from our fallsview room on the 17th floor, it was unbelievable! The staff was pleasant, and the room and lobby were clean. We were able to park the car and just walk to all the attractions and the vast amount of restaurants in the area with outside seating and entertainment.

Let`s see, where to start: the rooms have no cable tv, getting an extra pillow involved a confrontation with front desk staff, the beds may be more comfortable at Kingston Penitentiary and promised food discounts after an "upgrade" resulted in a major hassle with the restaurant manager, despite ownership of both hotel and restaurant being the same. In short, the park bench may be a better choice of accommodations.

simply put the view is stunning if you have a Fallsview room. After that you quickly realize this is a hotel charging prices of a Hilton while offering all the amenities of a Comfort Inn.

The desk staff are rude (Heather)

The pool which is loaded with chlorine to the point it burns your eyes just being in the room somehow is still filthy.

The rooms seem clean except you may question the standards of cleaning by the crumbs or something we had to brush off our bedsheets.

There is no continental or breakfast of any kind offered unless you want to pay for it a nearby restaurant.

They push a restaurant they own (Remmingtons) which the Food is Mediocre and not made from fresh ingredients but somehow tries to be elegant. The problem is it always seems to be empty which means their "singing waiters" always seem to be beside your table doing their version of karaoke.

They charge a 4% tourism fee which the province of Ontario says in not mandatory and must be removed if asked but this hotel flat out refuses to do so. No other restaurant or store had an issue removing it

This hotel charges $.80 per minute on the telephone FOR LOCAL CALLS

Once again charge top hotel rates but can't even offer cable TV. . It's digital antenna.

The outside of this place is only made nice at all by the newer buildings being built around it... the exterior of the Oakes is actually quite dumpy.

If I'm paying $700 for 2 nights i expect more and I know I can find many other options on the same street.

Thank you for your review, I firstly would like to start off by saying that the TIF FEE is not a voluntary fee that can be removed, this fee is collected by the tourism sector to help enhance and animate the visitor experience. This fee helps fund and support nightly fireworks, free concerts, and festivals. Further more a portion of this fee is applied to the improvments such as the convenction center, street scaping, public space beautification and marketing of our city. We do bill 3.95% to your overall bill which in turn gets submitted to the city of Niagara Falls.

Stayed on the 15th floor with falls view - magnificent! Great viewing any time of the day or night, especially for Wednesday night fireworks. Used their restaurant package and was satisfied; meal wasn't extraordinary, but very good and the price was right unless you "upgraded" the coupon choices . They provide free shuttle transportation to and from and the servers sing! There were four of us in two rooms and the hotel was pricey but this was a once and done trip for us, so worth the extra money. The hotel and rooms were clean and up to date, and the staff friendly and accommodating. No complaints from our group.

Room Tip: Book above the twelfth floor, make sure you have a falls view. Ask for wifi code at the desk; it changes every day.
