We explored the islands ourselves since it was very windy and brisk fall day, but we were dressed appropriately so we were comfortable. There are beautiful bridges that you can walk over, lighted electric forest animal creations, ducks in the pond...a true haven for nature lovers!!!! Another added bonus== Parking is FREE

I was impressed by this place and there is a lot of water here! We had a nice picnic at Dufferin park/island. I recommend you take children there and they can feed the ducks. We took a tour recommended by the hotel we stayed at but I would recommend that you do your own thing. I paid much more than what you should have for the same thing. The tour took us on the Maid of the mist, cave of the winds, and a tour of a hydro station for $80 per person. You can do the Maid of the mist etc for less than $40. It is more convenient with the tour but it depends on your budget. There are fireworks at night on Sun and Wed nights to see at the falls. Food choices are average and only franchises are available. If you have a car then you can drive further out and get cheaper food. I wouldn't recommend the all you can eat breakfast we had. We got ripped off because it advertised all you can eat and poured us coffee which we didn't find out until the end that is not included in the breakfast and was expensive. The orange juice was even more expensive. I think this place should have a menu telling people how much each item costs. Lastly I would recommend hiring a car and driving around Niagara on the lake and visit the wineries. It is a beautiful drive and visit the Botanical gardens. Beware you have to pay for wine tasting over here!

About a mile south and upstream of the Canadian falls off the Niagara Parkway lies Dufferin Islands park. Dump the kids off at the Waterpark or Madame Tussauds, grab a bottle of wine and a picnic lunch and bike, hike or drive (free parking) over here for a little slice of nature only a mile or so from the Starbucks infested beehive just blocks away. .Red winged blackbirds fly around your head like something out of Hitchcock movie if you approach their nests, and great views of the NF skyline and the rapids just upstream from the falls.

It's not listed as an "attraction" in most of the guidebooks, and you're probably the only person reading this review on Trip Advisor which means you're already probably halfway there. Go the rest of the way. Really nice place to kick back in NF.

This park is incredible! We found this park accidentally whle trying to find a place to turn around. What an amazing bit of luck for us. It is a series of tiny islands formed from a small diversion of the Niagara River. Each island is connected to the next by a bridge. Large carp can be seen in the water, there are plenty of ducks, geese and other wildlife. We spent over 2 hours there just walking the trails and enjoying the day. My 5 year old son thought this was heaven.

This would not be advised for those who love excitement and constant thrills. This is a quiet, serene natural setting very juxtaposed to the hustle -bustle, crowds and 'noise' of Clifton Hill.

Great place for a family picnic or just to get away from it all! Clean restrooms and FREE parking!

My only complaint is that the stream is becoming a collection site for people's garbage! What a shame that some people are such slobs!
