“Hilton's Nice--Yet, The View Is Not What You'd Expect From The Pictures!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 April 2004

During the 80' and 90's I was a travel agent in SC and never once did a customer ask to go to Niagara Falla in NY or in Canada. I didn't really understand why this was...that is until I took my own family there during this recent Easter break.
What a disappointment it was!

Because I enjoy traveling I make it a habit of finding something good and/or interesting in every place I visit, however with this city there just isn't anything good to speak of.
I hate to say it, but this is by far the biggest rip off I've yet to see anywhere. While the falls are quite beautiful you need only see them and quickly move on into Canada. If you remain in the falls area very long you'll no doubt feel as though someone has robbed you before leaving. Talk about a city trying to get every last nickle from you...well this is it. You'd have more fun throwing your money away in Las Vegas.
While the Hilton hotel offers great rates if you purchased your hotel package through an American company before coming into Canada you will not find any further "good deals" once there.

While the Hilton is very clean and over all one of the areas better hotels...it may be of interest to know that the large pool complex that they offer is used daily as a baby sitting service. Don't go here with the idea that it will be nice to sit in the hot tub while your children also have fun in the pool. We thought this and to our dismay we found out very quickly that this wasn't going to happen. Remember most of these kids running and jumping every where...including those diving into the hot tub have been left by parents seeking other forms of entertainment and the hotels doesn't seem to care that this is openly done.

You could take a family of four on a four or five day cruise for less than you'd spend in a very short amount of time here.
Look for another vacation site...you don't want to stay here. Head on into Canada and see some of the other cities...like Toronto or Ottawa.

“Nice trip, but are the falls just for families?”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 March 2004

The falls were a remarkable sight, which made the trip great. However, as a young couple, the city of Niagara Falls left something to be desired. Aside from the casino, very little other entertainment is available to adults without children. If you are a smoker- be aware there are very few places that allow you to do that, even in most bars or nightclubs (which aren't really great either). So if you go to see the falls- GO TO SEE THE FALLS!

“Snow Removal”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 January 2004

My family always enjoy our regular winter trips to Niagara Falls. The hotels are good, the restaurants are fine but there is one serious problem and this is a problem with the city itself and not the businesses. If, when we visit, there has been a snowfall in the recent past, that snow remains on the sidewalks in the downtown area for indefinite periods and in fact builds up higher with the next snowfall.
It seems that sidewalk clearing is left to individual businesses to undertake. This ad hoc approach to the problem leaves visitors struggling to get to any attraction they may try to visit. In many cases they are forced to walk in the road because the sidewalk is impassable. This disgraceful situation reflects badly on the city considering that tourism is the main source of revenue. I honestly and sincerely believe that the city is totally insensitive to the needs and comfort of the visitors who sustain the economy of the area.

“Falls are spectacular”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 September 2003

The falls are beautiful! I had seen pictures, but they just don't compare. Your trip is not complete if you don't take a ride on the Maid of the Mist. It is fantastic! My kids (who are normally bored with most things) loved it. It is so amazing to be up so close. Be prepared to do a lot of walking. Parking is expensive and hard to find. Clifton Hill was very appealing to my children, but the rides were rather expensive.
When going out for dinner, try The Outback. They have valet parking and the food was delicious. We made a mistake on the first night and went to Dennys for a late dinner following the fireworks. Big mistake! They were out of everything, the food was mediocre, and the cost was outrageous. That being the only low point of the trip, we had a wonderful time. Another tip: if you are coming back into the US, have your money exchanged on the Canadian side. It's a whole lot easier.

“Great Falls but the rest Stinks!!!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 August 2003

I just got back from Niagra Falls and wanted to give my input. We stayed for 2 nights at the Sheraton on the Falls. It was a nice hotel but smack dab in the middle of the carnival atmosphere. You could hardly walk down the street without bumping shoulders with someone and if you drive be prepared to stay in traffic for a long time. The town has become a carnival atmoshpere with rides, Ripleys Believe It or Not, WWF, and other really tacky tacky attractions somewhat like Coney Island. If you're not into this and want a more upscale atmosphere I suggest you stay in a very nice upscale romantic town called Niagara on the Falls. A beautiful town with 40 wineries very close nearby and wonderful restaraunts. Many hotels offer packages including a gourmet dinner and full breakfast all within a 20 minute drive from the Falls.
