We stayed at La Toscana di Carlotta in early July 2014. We traveled with my elderly parents - they had the first floor Botticelli suite, which was perfect for them as they did not need to navigate any stairs. We stayed in the Medici room on the second floor, which was perfectly lovely.

First of all, Carlotta, Kash, and Sharah (Carlotta;s mom) are delightful hosts. They were very attentive, extremely personable, and accommodated our every need. As friendly and accommodating as they are, they manage to maintain a comfortable distance from the guests, meaning that they don't overreach or intrude, even though they live on premise (they have their own wing in the house which is well-separated from where guests stay). Special thanks to Beverly - she maintains the rooms daily and even did a load of laundry for my mother one day. (You can see Beverly in the doorway in the stock photo of the Brunelleschi room).

Our rooms were perfect. The Botticelli room on the first floor is quite spacious. When you enter the room from the lobby there is an interior hallway which leads to the bathroom and further down, the bedroom. That hallways creates a nice barrier from the main lobby - if the door is open, nobody will see into the bedroom from the lobby. This room has a king bed and 2 comfortable upholstered side chairs.

We stayed in the Medici Room on the 2nd floor and loved it. Upon entering the room you are in an interior foyer which leads to the closet, bathroom, and the bedroom at the far end. This room is the most isolated from the other rooms, which is nice. The room is very bright and cheerful, the bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was modern and clean. I loved top-down blinds which allowed us to look out onto the street and still retain our privacy. The interior foyer makes it very easy to live in. We used it as sort of dressing room and were able to keep our luggage out of the bedroom. Immediately across the hall from the entrance to our room was a small kitchenette with mini-fridge and unlimited bottled water supply.

Now about the breakfast. All of the reviews mention this, but none of them can possibly come close to describing the experience. We chose to eat indoors, but even that was lovely. Each morning at 9am we were seated at the same 2 tables adorned with linen tablecloths and lovely china tableware. We were served a fresh-squeezed juice cocktail (Kash makes a different concoction daily, and it was always delicious). Then bread and local jams, then fresh fruit and yogurt, then crostini, then eggs, then cappuccino, then dessert. Everything is cooked to order by Carlotta and Sarah and it was different each morning of our stay. We happened to be there the week of the Cherry festival and were spoiled by the most delicious cherry pie I have every tasted in my lifetime.

I have to comment on the convenience of this location. It is within walking distance (literally minutes) to all the shops, restaurants, and theaters. they provide a free parking space to each of their guests, so we would drop off my parents door-to-door, then come back and park the car, then walk back to meet them. It worked out perfectly.

I will absolutely return to La Toscana di Carlotta and I will likely request the Medici room again, if its available.

Room Tip: The Botticelli is perfect for elderly who do not want to navigate stairs. It is the largest room an...

Carlotta, Cash and the whole family were so welcoming and friendly, My wife and I were on our honeymoon and they had a bottle of Prosecco chilled upon our arrival. The breakfast each morning was amazing and very filling so you really didn't need much for lunch. Very quiet house, but a block away from the main area in Niagara. We wouldn't stay anywhere else in Niagara on the Lake and can't wait to go back in the coming years.

A couple of weeks ago, my partner and I spent two nights at this delightful and constantly admired B&B facility. All of the praise is well earned and truly justified. That is , obviously , the reason that acquiring a reservation on the spur of the moment is generally impossible. But, never give up , it is well worth the effort.
Italian born Carlotta and her charming husband, Cash, have created a residence that exudes a welcoming warmth as soon as you pass through the door. We happened to occupy The Medici Room, which is apparently the smallest. Nevertheless, there was plenty of room for us , and all of our luggage, to reside in great comfort. Unlike the other three rooms, The Medici does not have its own balcony. Nevertheless, beautifully manicured garden facilities provide ideal space for relaxing.
Breakfast is an occasion !! I am sure that we counted five or six courses , consisting of delectable home-cooked specialities . Weather was excellent, so we were able to enjoy this delicious meal outside on the beautiful terrace. Whether inside or out , four individual tables were set up so that guests could enjoy their breakfasts quietly on their own, or they could converse with other guests if they chose. Also, the fact that breakfast was offered between 8.30am and 10.00am was a very positive feature for us. Sharah, Carlotta's cute and loveable Italian mother, was there to help serve breakfast and also to add further authenticity to this Italian-themed Bed and Breakfast facility. What a 'charmer' she is . You want to take her home , but that would undoubtedly upset other family members !! As far as we could see, Beverley completed the permanent team, ensuring that our accommodations were totally up to standard .She carried out this responsibility with smiles and great efficiency.
Located just a very short walk away from the theatres , shops and other places of interest , La Toscana di Carlotta B&B is a ' must' for our next visit to Niagara-on-the-Lake, as long as we book in well in advance. So many thanks to you all . -- Ron and Peter , Port Hope , Ontario.

Room Tip: Even the " smallest" room provided perfect space.

First time we stayed at La Toscana but won't be our last! We have already booked for next year! Beautiful ground floor room with our own little patio. Carlotta and Kash and Carlotta's Momma were amazing hosts! Breakfast on the outdoor patio was so good and we enjoyed talking to Carlotta , Kash and the other guests! It is also located on King Street which is walking distance to many restaurants and shops. Had an awesome time and felt like we were were staying with family! Can't wait until next year!!

My lovely wife of twenty years picked this bed and breakfast. By far it was the most wonderful bnb we've ever stayed at. The rooms were perfect. Not to mention, having the balcony was very nice for early morning coffee or an evening snack. The breakfast was amazing with a taste of old Italy. Carlotta, Kash, and Sarah (Grandmama) were the most delightful hosts. The location was just right with proximity within walking distance of all the shops plus the theatres, and numerous restaurants. We were so pleased with our stay and will be staying here again!

Room Tip: Any room is perfect

This is the second year I've stayed at La Toscana. Last year I chose it because I love Florence and all things Italian. I was NOT disappointed. I've stayed in two different rooms and both were excellent. There was lots of room for hanging clothes, lots of drawers, a good hair dryer and lots of room in the bathroom for moving around and for storage. The breakfasts are definitely not Italian. They give you several small courses at the beginning and the end with a large entree. The poached eggs with smoked salmon - no heavy beschamel/besciamella - was absolutely delicious. And who ever thought of dessert for breakfast? One day it was gelato; the next an apple tart, Italian-style, light and tasty. I would highly recommend this wonderful taste of Italy in NOTL. Thanks to Carlotta, Kash and Signora Shara for an outstanding two and half days.

Room Tip: Have stayed in both The Medici and The Brunelleschi. The Medici is slightly smaller but still big en...
