Like the last reviewer we booked Butler Creek on-line but were called the next day to be told that that B&B had been reserved over the phone and we were offered a stay at Abagales which backs onto Butlers. It is however on a busier street though the traffic did not bother us as the house is set back aways from the main road. We took the bikes out ($10 on time service fee per bike) and visited 4 or 5 wineries during the afternoon - when we were about 7 km away from the hotel one of the bikes got a flat and Linda graciously came by with another bike so we could continue our travels. The breakfast was superb and we enjoyed the starry night from the hot tub!

Room Tip: A backside room is quieter

Was excited to go to this property. Incredibly disappointed to be told that my online reservation did not go through and the reservation was given to someone over the phone. This was after the fact that I put down my credit card information and got a confirmation number through email saying that it was book. I received an email from the owner 4 days later saying that unfortunately it has been booked for someone else. Make sure if you are booking with this group to call instead of booking online.

I am so happy that this guest really wanted to come to Abagales and of course why not. It is fabulous and the 5-star Trip Adviser Reviews attest to this. But I am sorry that while my website was being updated, I lost my calendar and did not realize this had happened. I was selling rooms by telephone. When the calendar was restored I received the reservation days after the room was filled and apologized profusely to this guest who was naturally very disappointed. I also explained that this had never happened before. I am surprised that Trip Advisor accepted a review about every aspect of the B&B….rooms, location, cleanliness, etc. when the person never even came through the door. This type of review on the whole B&B should never be allowed.

We were very comfortable in the Rose Room. Our own home is on a very quiet street so we did notice the road traffic noise. This was the only negative for us.
We were a group of friends who meet only once a year and this home was ideal with the living room and back porch for visiting. Tea, cold drinks and snacks were always available and coffee was ready when we wanted it in the morning.
Linda was very helpful with tips about town and then helped us with reservations for our dinners. Great choices.
The breakfasts were out of this world. Anita was so pleasant and looked after us so well.
Would recommend this B&B to anyone.

A friend and I booked this lovely B&B for a few days in late July for 3 nights. We located it easily and were happy to know, as advertised, that it was close to the downtown core and theatres. It was a lovely Victorian home with well-appointed grounds. Upon our arrival, the proprietor wasn't there, but a note in a basket by the door listed a cell # where she could be reached. She arrived within minutes, very friendly, but immediately told us that she had made a mistake and was overbooked for the first night. However, she apologized and led us immediately to another property she was associated with and we were given a 2-room "suite" with private bath. Unfortunately, one of the bedrooms was tiny and furnished with a low-lying cot that turned out to be very uncomfortable. Because of the inconvenience, we were also given a $50 dinner voucher for use at one of the four most famous inns in the town. This was a very nice gesture and we thoroughly enjoyed our first-night's dining experience. Breakfast the following morning was very good, and served in a nicely-appointed dining room. We then traveled back to the original (Abagale's) property and were able to leave our luggage and get freshened up before attending our afternoon performance. The room was nicely-decorated, large, with 2 comfortable beds and a wonderful oversized bathroom. Our breakfasts for the remaining 2 mornings were gastronomical delights, served in an elegant dining room by a very friendly and accommodating employee. All in all, our experience was very good, except for the inconvenience of the first night, and if we return next year we will definitely book this B&B again. We would recommend it to any discerning customer and look forward to a future stay!

We were booked and paid 3 months for a night at this B&B When we arrived, they told us they were full. Because we had called a week before and asked about a late checkout, they chose to interpret that to mean we were not coming. We did not get any cancellation notice, and their booking agent wasn't informed either until we called her.

This was a total misunderstanding and I explained it to the guest and apologized if I had not understood them correctly. Their request for check-out after all day golfing was considered an absolute must and they mentioned finding alternate accommodation to satisfy their request. I took them at their word and took this to mean they were booking another B&B. I am very disappointed that Trip Advisor allows a review in regard to all aspects of the B&B when the guest never stayed to experience the great atmosphere and service at Abagales Victorian like all the guests who posted such positive reviews. Had they stayed at Abagales I am sure their review would have been 5-star.

Our family of 4 (son, 19 and youngest daughter, 15) enjoyed a wonderful, wonderful time at Abagale's (stayed 3 nites in late August, 2013). Linda is a bundle of energy, and warmly greeted us upon our arrival. She asked what we had planned, what shows we were seeing, etc. She was shocked when we said we were only going to relax and go to one concert. She smartly suggested that we go to The Shaw Festival (where we'd gone last year), and noted 2 shows that she'd particularly enjoyed, neither of which we had really thought about. But we proceeded to book "Enchanted April" and LOVED the quick wit, the sets, the great dialogue and the theatre itself; even our 19 yr-old son was taken with it. Linda also suggested wine tours, lunch and dinner spots, etc, (and gave us some coupons for these activities/dining spots) and everything she mentioned and that we tried, we enjoyed. She didn't push us not to relax, but to take advantage of all that NOTL had to offer AND to relax, which we did.
The house is cute, the rooms are clean, good-sized washrooms, lovely dining room that had coffee, tea, hot chocolate, granola bars….My husband and I had the 1 bedroom on the main floor, which fronts the street, but it is set back so you barely hear the traffic; our kids shared a large bedroom upstairs, also fronting the street, but they also weren't bothered by noise. The other benefit to the main floor bedroom is that you have more privacy, because there aren't any other bedrooms on that floor.
The house is on a main street (but it's a quiet community, so that's not loud) and very conveniently located. We had a Zagat-rated pizza parlour (Resto) just 1 block away, and we enjoyed take-out pizza one night, sitting on the back deck. We also visited the public library which is a few blocks away.
We did a fair amount of biking and loved it--wonderful, wonderful biking trails, and everyone you pass is just delightful, because people are happy when they're in NOTL!
As with most B&Bs, it was delightful meeting people from all over, and discussing interesting topics over breakfast.
The breakfasts were scrumptious, and cooked and served by the very kind and friendly Anita, who we looked forward to seeing every morning. Thank you for your conversation, cooking and warmth, Anita.
If you go in the summertime, be sure to catch an outdoor concert at Jackson-Triggs' winery, which has an amphitheatre and stages fabulous acts. Our family missed out last year when the concert was sold out, so we bought our tickets in advance and enjoyed the terrific music, beautiful set-up, and the warm and gorgeous evening with stars in the sky and the sound of crickets in the background. Arrive when the doors open, as parking lot fills up fast, and the best seats are taken up fast as well, though there aren't any bad seats, really. Jackson-Triggs really does it in style, handing out small, plastic tumblers and having wine and snacks available for purchase.
It was lovely returning home to Abagale's, and we will surely return to it or Butler Creek next time, and there definitely will be a next time.
Thank you Linda, Walter and Anita for your hospitality and tips.

Warmly,
Christina Yan-Lee, Michael Lee and Graham and Andrea Lee

For our first overnight stay in wine country we could not have found a more perfect resting place. Recommended by my daughter, we had high expectations and were pleased they were met. We had the ground floor room which i recommend if available. It has a jacuzzi and after a hard day tasting wine, who wants to climb stairs! Our room and the rest of the downstairs was always clean and tidy. Breakfast was served promptly at 9:00 am and was both varied and plentiful without being too much. We like B&B because of the opportunity to meet new people over breakfast. This time did not disappoint: folks from Texas, India and Toronto! A major plus is the location. We could walk to the downtown area and did so several times. We are planning to return for the "Pinot Love Affair in October."

Room Tip: Ground floor room has a jacuzzi.
