“Amazing (and first) B&B Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 August 2013

My fiance, myself, and another couple were lucky enough to find this bed and breakfast which is conveniently located close to everything (downtown, wineries, restaurants). Janie and Dave are gracious hosts and welcomed us warmly into their home.

Upon our arrival, they asked us what we planned to do. When we told them we were going to rent bicycles and ride around to the wineries, they offered us the bicycles they had in their garage. This was a huge favour and saved us some money on our stay. Not only that, they also gave us winery coupons for taste tests and directed us on a map.

They have a reading room with lots of magazines and board games available for guests and an awesome latte machine which we definitely made use of. Water bottles are available in the fridge and you can chill your wine there as well.

Breakfast was fantastic - delicious scones with homemade jam and a fruit salad which was followed by poached eggs, ham, and toast. We really couldn't ask for more.

I recommend staying here to anyone visiting Niagara on the Lake and I would definitely return!

Room Tip: The Madison room does not have a connecting bathroom - it is located across the hall. The two other...

My friend and I rode the Niagara Circle in July 2013. Ashgrove Cottage was delightful - with a nice sitting room complete with a Tassimo coffee machine. The gluten-free food prepared for breakfast was delicious - and impressive! My friend and I purchased a bottle of wine from a local winery and enjoyed the beautiful garden in the back until sunset. Very pleasant. I would definitely return.

Room Tip: Our room overlooked the gardens and it was very nice.

We stayed here for three nights in May on our honeymoon. I have to say this is one of (if not the) nicest B&B's I've stayed in. Janie and Dave were more than happy to spend the time helping us get the most out of our visit with their wealth of local knowledge, its easy to tell that they love meeting new people through their B&B. Breakfast was a great time to converse with the other guests around the large table.
Our room was not massive, but very nicely decorated, and there are other areas of the B&B guests have access to, such as a small library (with Tassimo machine and Biscotti - very nice) and a veranda.
The quality of the breakfast was excellent, we loved the spiced pears and almond french toast especially!
Would we stay here again? Absolutely!!!

This cozy, comfortable, welcoming B&B is definitely a highlite of any trip to Niagara on the Lake. I've been there a number of times now, and consider Ashgrove to be an all time favourite vacation destination. The breakfasts are homemade and delicious. Highly recommend this home as a "must experience", bucket list kind of place!

Ashgrove Cottage is everything you could want in a B&B. The house is an older character home (I would guess 1930s) so the rooms are smallish but very quaint. Janie Lewis has gone out of her way to make everything very comfortable and functional. Breakfast was outstanding. We had wonderful scones, warm citrus salad and eggs benedict. Janie and her husband Dave are wonderful hosts and very hospitable. The cottage is well located and you can walk to the lake or to the theatre in a few minutes (15 to 20 for downtown). There is a lovely garden although we were there in April when it was still too cold to enjoy. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: 2 of the 3 rooms have ensuite bathrooms.

A foursome of friends, one couple from Texas and one couple from Virginia, stayed at the Ashgrove Cottage B&B in Sept, 2012. We were visiting the area to view the plays at the Sahw Festival Theatre. Our party of four had unique food allergies and the also need for a gluten free menu. Janie created lovely breakfasts that met our every requestd. She greacefully shared stories of her own life at breakfast and made us feel at home. The owners were also very accomodating concerning our check in and check- out time. As a B&B owner myself, I can say I was pampered at the Ashgrove Cottage and I appreciated staying in a well-run establishment. Cozy and comfortable

I've been to Niagara-OnThe-Lake twice and this is my second visit and stay at Ashgrove Cottage. This place is perfect. Hosts Dave and Janie were so accommodating.

Janie contacted us before hand to ask if we had any dietary limitations or preferences and when we arrived, double checked again.
We were shown to our room, the same one we stayed in last time. We're home.

Two of the bedrooms have queen beds with ensuite bathrooms (with showers) and the third bedroom is two twin beds (convertible to king) and has a private bathroom across the hall with full soaker tub with shower.

There's a really cute little "library" room upstairs also with a Tassimo and all kinds of choices. There's a mini fridge there too with bottled water. All included.

Off to do some wine tasting. The location is great. Very close to many of the popular vineyards. It's also walking distance from Queen St, the main drag here in NOTL. Really cool also, you don't need to worry about keys coming and going. The front door is keyless with a numerical entry code.

Back home for the night. Relaxing in the living room on the main floor and then in bed watching TV. There's a TV with DVD in every bedroom.

Breakfast, where to begin. Fresh baked muffins, pancakes, pure maple syrup, pears with yogurt granola and honey. Turkey sausage, eggs, coffee, tea, juice.

All in all, this place was exactly what I wanted. Perfect in all aspects. Definitely recommended!!

Thank you so much for your review. It felt to us too that you had come back home for a visit. I hadn't thought of taking a picture of the parking area, but guests have asked about parking facilities, so thank you for adding that picture. Have a great day.
