Just returned from a stay at the Dorchester House in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Our hostess, Barbara, is a wonderful lady with lots to tell you about the area and some great added touches one would not expect. Our room was simple and clean and the ensuite bathroom featured some very fragrant lavender soaps and shampoos from a small boutique in the area. We checked this out on our way out of town and I would highly recommend the visit to the neob Lavender Boutique (neob = Niagara Essential Oils & Blends) on Niagara Stone Road. Although it was one of the hottest days of the year we were able to enjoy our coffee on her shady patio amidst the tall trees, flowers and birds. She has a resident cat and a beautiful dog named Wicker -- a Norweigian Elkhound. Wicker kept mainly to herself and was not bothersome for any of the guests. Barbara's breakfast was out of this world. If you go expecting cereal and milk you will be highly disappointed. There were five of us staying as guests and a full buffet of cheeses, meats, beans, mushrooms, yogurt, roasted potatoes, 2 wonderful casseroles with tomatoes, cheese, eggplant, sausages, yum! This was more of a brunch than breakfast, so make sure you have a good morning appetite! This was just a quick getaway for us, but I would highly recommend this B&B. It is close to the water, to the wineries and to the many shops that make up Niagara on the Lake!
