Dorchester House Bed and Breakfast

Barbara is a warm, friendly host. The B&B is very clean!! Rooms are small but charming. The breakfast was a feast. Reasonably priced, good value! We did not use the wifi, so I can't comment. No TV's but seriously who goes to NotL for TV? Shower was nice and hot. Rooms are small but comfortable, maybe a tad overdecorated with knick-knacks (more space for our stuff would have been better). Would highly recommend!

Room Tip: all rooms are equal.

Barbara,

I just want to let you know (again) that we had a superb time staying with you at Dorchester House last week. Getting to know you was as much a highlight of our trip as being in Niagara on the Lake with the beautiful weather and surroundings. We found your home particularly warm and inviting, and the breakfasts were as unique and delicious as they were filling! We look forward to seeing you again in the (not too distant) future and staying in touch. Take care.

My family and I rented all three rooms of this lovely B and B and we enjoyed our stay immensely. Each room was lovely with beautiful bedding, toiletries, and bright fluffy towels. Barbara is a charming host and allows her guests full access to her living room dining room kitchen and patio. Fresh fruit and cookies were at out at all times and her breakfast was superb. We enjoyed meeting and talking with Barbara who is a lovely lady and we would definitely come back to this B&B.

My sister and I recently stayed at the Dorchester House for one night during our annual sister's trip. The room may have been small ("quaint") but the hospitality was definitely first rate. Barbara is a warm and welcoming hostess with an effervescent personality that definitely captures your heart. She is eager to share information on the area and was quick to assist us in securing Shaw Festival tickets for that evening. Her home is conveniently located just a short - and pleasant - walk from the main town. On top of that she provided a homemade breakfast that was nothing short of amazing...meat perogies (which you just have to top with sour cream!), whitefish, red cabbage salad, beet salad, quiche, a tasty rice/cheese/mushroom dish, cheeses, breads, fresh fruit, juices, coffee, tea, apple crumble, home baked cookies, chocolate covered plums...oh, you could order eggs if you really wanted more traditional "breakfast" food. The guests sat around one table and provided robust morning conversation before we left to further explore this fabulous area. Breakfast may change from day to day but you surely won't be disappointed. Barbara and her B&B are just so comfortable and delightful!

Just returned from a stay at the Dorchester House in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Our hostess, Barbara, is a wonderful lady with lots to tell you about the area and some great added touches one would not expect. Our room was simple and clean and the ensuite bathroom featured some very fragrant lavender soaps and shampoos from a small boutique in the area. We checked this out on our way out of town and I would highly recommend the visit to the neob Lavender Boutique (neob = Niagara Essential Oils & Blends) on Niagara Stone Road. Although it was one of the hottest days of the year we were able to enjoy our coffee on her shady patio amidst the tall trees, flowers and birds. She has a resident cat and a beautiful dog named Wicker -- a Norweigian Elkhound. Wicker kept mainly to herself and was not bothersome for any of the guests. Barbara's breakfast was out of this world. If you go expecting cereal and milk you will be highly disappointed. There were five of us staying as guests and a full buffet of cheeses, meats, beans, mushrooms, yogurt, roasted potatoes, 2 wonderful casseroles with tomatoes, cheese, eggplant, sausages, yum! This was more of a brunch than breakfast, so make sure you have a good morning appetite! This was just a quick getaway for us, but I would highly recommend this B&B. It is close to the water, to the wineries and to the many shops that make up Niagara on the Lake!

We had the pleasure of staying at Barbara’s charming B&B in April. We rented two rooms for one night. Both rooms were clean, comfortable, and quaint. Just the ambiance we were hoping for in NOTL! Although the rooms were very nice, what really sets apart this B&B from the rest is our dynamic hostess Barbara, and her extraordinary culinary talents! Barbara prepared an extensive and delicious breakfast that was anything but typical. In addition to flavourful coffee, locally made preserves and fresh baked breads and pastries, Barbara’s gastronomic delights included smoked salmon, warm brie, sautéed mushrooms, chacuterie, and paddypan squash…a foodie paradise!

Normally, we can’t wait to hit the wineries right after breakfast but at the Dorchester we stuck around until well into the afternoon drinking several pots coffee and enjoying lively conversation with Barbara and two other guests!

We will definitely be back.

We had a wonderful stay at this lovely and charming B & B a year ago. Our hostess, Barbara, was friendly and beyond accommodating. The room was beautiful and the little extra touches of beautifully scented soaps added to the ambiance. Barbara prepared an ample and delicious breakfast with incredible home-baked goods, which were made available by the way, during the entire stay.
Sadly, there was no availability this past weekend and we chose another B&B - no comparison!
We certainly hope to be back.
