It was the morning of July 21st when we were really looking forward to breakfast but unfortunately when our three-tier tray arrived, we could not get past the slices of cantaloupe and honeydew. They were clearly fermented and bad. The cold cuts of sliced chicken were also off. Simply unacceptable!! I would not give it even one star...it spoiled our holiday. This is a badly managed place with very sombre dining room and reception desk staff....when notified of the problem, there was not even an apology as if they were numb to complaints!

My husband and I have been going to NOTL for over 30 years and have stayed in a variety of accommodations. This year, we decided to try the Oban. We stayed in Room 303 from July 8 to 11. The room has much to recommend it: a comfortable King bed, lots of light through the many windows, shutters for privacy, a private patio (where we had a picnic lunch one day) next to a Koi pond, a glimpse of the lake over the cedar hedge across the street, lots of storage space in many small drawers, two chairs for lounging, a desk and a huge bathroom with a soaker tub. As for the hotel itself, we were surprised that we weren't offered assistance with our luggage when we arrived, and the continental breakfast (as some others have commented) was eccentric and somewhat meagre, with an offering of smoked fish (not to everyone's taste), cold cuts, one boiled egg between the two of us, a little bit of fruit and a couple of pastries. No cereal, but toast and yogurt were on offer. We found the staff overall to be not terribly friendly, but helpful. There is a really nice outdoor lap pool with a waterfall feature and truly gorgeous gardens. It is in a quiet location in a neighbourhood. A couple of issues for us: the built-in metal door stops in the bathroom are not easily seen (blending in with the tile), and I stubbed my toe badly, and it was very difficult to regulate the temperature in the shower, alternating between scalding (dangerously so), icy, or off. There was no ice machine for drinks or chilling wine; it is only available through guest services (and our experience was that after the ice melted, there was debris in the bucket, suggesting that it wasn't clean). All that said, we would return, and would seek out room 303 specifically. The location and the pool are worth it, and the private patio was lovely.

Wonderfully beautiful place to stay with stunning views. Rooms are tasteful, beautifully decorated and romantic. The Spa is AMAZING as well as the staff. Food is fantastic and great wine touring area.

Room Tip: I prefer to stay in the main Inn instead of the cottages. You need to actually walk outside to acce...

We are frequent visitors to niagara on the lake. This was our first stay at the Oban Inn. From check in to check out the staff were polite and helpful The room was beautiful and updated and exceptionally clean. The breakfast was included and was probably the best hotel breakfast we have ever experienced. Highly recommend this property.

We stayed at the Oban Inn for our 10 year anniversary and it was very nice. We were greeted by Gordon who said "happy anniversary". We had no problems at check in. We had forgot to print and reserve tickets for an outing we were going to and the staff was very helpful with getting those done for us. The breakfast was very nice and included in the stay. The beds were comfortable and they leave a little note with the weather for the next day at turn down service. We had a nice view of the lake from our room. The only negative was that the door to the patio had a cracked window and could have been replaced. Other than that we had a very nice stay.
We stayed at two other hotels during our trip and this one had the best staff by far!

Excellent Location. Beautiful gardens. Comfortable bed. Very small bathroom. Only clock in the room is on the Bose machine which is bolted to the credenza. The Bose was not facing the bed so unable to see the time from the bed because we couldn't angle the Bose. Looked everywhere for the coffee machine and found the Keurig under the bathroom sink on an open shelf just a few inches from the floor!! In the bathroom-no thanks that's disgusting. The room had a little patio of its own facing the interior gardens which was nice. Breakfast was a generous continental style. Overall good but overpriced.

This is a very handsome inn with outstanding gardens. Our checkin was smooth and easy, our room was very handsome and well appointed. In fact, it had a small patio, which was very nice. The rooms are very cozy, some might say a bit small, but I am a very large man, and found our room perfectly satisfactory in terms of size.

The breakfast that came with the room was wonderful, and a great deal of fun. Instead of the usual buffet, the wait staff brought a three-tiered tray to the table ladened with goodies of all sorts [e.g., sweet rolls' salmon, bagels, cream cheese etc.; fruit; hard-boiled eggs; yogurt and a few things I have forgotten. Each little tray in this trio of trays was replenished when necessary.

The entire lodge is quite beautiful, especially if you like dark wood paneling and woodwork. I would most definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the back [west side] with a balcony. If you arrive early because you are going to...
