“Decent”
Reviewed 5 August 2014 via mobile

Fort Mississauga's rundown ruins are worth a visit if you have some spare time. Aside from its sole remaining blockhouse and the overgrown ramparts, little signage exists and much is left to the imagination. Neat for history buffs, but it is too bad more wasn't done to preserve the site.

“Overlooked Gem”
Reviewed 25 July 2014

Completely over-shadowed by nearby Fort George, most visitors never venture to this absolute gem of a fort. There is not much to see and the interpretation is quite lacking. But the main building is still there and so are the rolling hills of what used to be the fortifications. It overlooks the delta of Niagara river into the lake Ontario and the American-side Niagara fort.

Chances are you will be the only visitor there, which adds a certain atmosphere to it.

Getting there is easy. Park somewhere near the intersection of Front and Simcoe streets and catch a small trail leading through the golf course towards what appears to be an over-growth. It’s a two-minute walk.

“Interesting history”
Reviewed 19 October 2013

To get there you walk through a golf course and then through a field, so if its wet outside wear appropriate shoes. The place is locked up tight but there are some info boards outside. Mildly interesting.

“Worth the walk to read the explanation boards”
Reviewed 10 October 2013

We found the fort by taking a walking tour of N-O-T-L. It is neglected as the other reviewer mentioned but the message boards were quite interesting and unlike the notice board are quite legible, It does provide a good view of the lake.
