“Wonderful place, wonderful people”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 May 2012

We only stayed one night at Lakewinds and it was not enough. The place itself is stunning. Built in 1881, well kept, lovely gardens and gorgeous interior. Yet it was comfortable and welcoming, too.The couple that runs it is very friendly, and they offer an excellent breakfast. It was eggs Benedict for our morning and it was delicious. We stayed in the Singapore room which was spacious and bright...yet dark enough to catch a quick nap in the afternoon when we lowered the blinds. Bed was comfortable, everything was clean and kept up. Hope to return again like the some of teh guests we met who were on their 11th year!! I can see why.

Room Tip: My best guess is that every room is a good room.

We had tried several times to book an evening at Lakewinds only to find that there were no vacancies. At long last, we were successful and it was everything we had heard it would be. The home is beautiful and the gardens are coming to life. The wisteria was in full bloom. Jane and Steven were gracious hosts. We felt very much "at home" and enjoyed our chats with each of them. Jane welcomed us and gave us a tour of the house. Later, after we had all returned from the theatre, Steve joined us and we discussed our plays while sipping sherry in the parlour. Steve shared the history of the house, the Shaw Festival and the Town itself. Coffee was available prior to breakfast being served. Breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented. We are looking forward to a return visit.

Room Tip: All the rooms are beautiful.

My wife and I decided to spend a weekend at Niagara-on-the-Lake (NOTL) and chose Lakewinds as our place to stay. This lovely home is located less than a ½ mile away from the more traditional main street (Queen Street) in NOTL. A ten minute walk in one direction will put you in the heart of the town and five minutes the other way will get you to the lake. Directly across the street from the house is a golf course as well, so they really are in a prime location.
Lakewinds Bed & Breakfast was wonderful! Not only is the home beautiful and spacious, but the owners are accommodating and delightful to talk with. We were greeted and shown to our room (Algonquin) and given a brief tour upon arrival. Anything that we needed, they had taken care of and they had the perfect combination of checking in with us and letting us do our own thing. Breakfast was amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed it both mornings that we were there. They also took a good amount of time to talk with us about the local wineries and which places to visit depending on what we were looking for, which proved to be very helpful.
We would recommend this location to anyone as we truly enjoyed our time there and know that anyone else who stayed at Lakewinds would feel just as welcome and happily satisfied as we were. Thanks for a great stay!

We stayed a night after coming from T.O and found this place on Trip-advisor. We thought that the pictures on the web do not do it justice. The location is walking distance to the center of town. The grounds are very nice with beautiful gardens and a in ground pool that we used.
We had the florentine room on the second floor that had a great view of the golf course.
The common rooms are very nice and as well it has a pool table.
The breakfast was very tasty.
We think this is a great place to stay in Niagara - on - the - Lake.
We intend to go back this July for a weekend.
You should not be disappointed.

Room Tip: We liked the rooms at the front.

We stayed a Lakewinds last summer and it was a wonderful two days. The rooms are spacious, the common rooms are lovely and the well groomed grounds include an inground pool and small pond. We enjoyed the sunroom with our coffees and the billiards table with our nightcap.

The hosts were very friendly and the breakfasts were awesome.

Of course the proximity to the theatres, shops and restaurants of Niagara on the lake was a bonus as was the view, looking out over the oldest golf course in North America.

Not an every year trip for us but we'll certainly go back sometime.

This was our first time at a B&B and we really fell in love with the manor. It was gorgeous and well kept. The house was Victorian and the owners, steve and Jane, really kept up with the theme inside with their furnishings. It was located extremely close to town, which was wonderful (about 2 blocks) and right across from a beautiful golf course and the lake. The grounds around the house were well manicured and we really found nothing wrong with this place. The breakfast (which was cooked by Jane was AMAZING...one morning she prepared waffles with bananas and strawberries and the next day made eggs Benedict. I cannot say enough good things about the breakfast...eating delicious homemade breakfast beside a fire was incredible. Oh also, there are bikes available to all guests, so that you can go biking to the vineyards, which I would recommend.
Overall, this was an outstanding place to stay and the people were very warm and welcoming!!
I would recommend this place to anyone.

We stayed at Lakewinds for the first time last weekend and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The B&B itself was beautiful, our room (Florentine) was clean and nicely decorated and our hosts were very welcoming. Breakfasts were absolutely delicious!! Our privacy was respected througout the weekend and we were pleased to be able to come and go as we wished. The location was also excellent....a brief walk to the main street and close to many restaurants. We will definitely return...most likely in the summer so that we can enjoy the pool and grounds next time.
