Lakewinds Country Manor

Lakewinds is like something out of a Jane Austen novel. It is absolutely lovely! My fiance and I had an amazing time biking to the local wineries, enjoying some alone time in the stunning garden and sipping on sherry on the wrap around porch before dinner. The atmosphere is very peaceful. A great getaway from the city. It's just a short walk away from great restaurants and tourist attractions on Queen Street. Breakfast in the morning was delicious and we enjoyed some great conversation with the other guests around the breakfast table. I highly recommend it!

A wonderful bed and breakfast. Large rooms with private bath. Terrific porch overlooking the NOTL golf course fairways and Lake Ontario. Large sitting room for visiting, playing pool or watching TV. An estate setting with beautiful gardens and pool. Very nice freshly prepared hot breakfast to start the day. Jane and Steve, host owners are very friendly and accommodating. This is an annual destination for a multi-day stay. Very relaxing. Well done!

Steve and Jan were excellent hosts for our first trip to NOTL for our anniversary celebration. The Manor was beautiful with a large comfortable porch that wrapped around the front with breathtaking views of the golf course across the street. It was a the perfect place to relax while sipping a glass of sherry before dinner reservations. But the best part of our stay: Our quarters, the San Souci Suite, was heavenly decorated located on the 3rd floor with a cozy sitting area, private bathroom with jacuzzi tub & shower and balcony. Our suite was simply angelic. My husband and I felt like honeymooners when we arrived to our 3rd floor suite. Although the pool was not yet open in mid-May (still quite cold), it looked like a great way to cool off in the summer! The location of the Lakewinds was also ideal as it was across the street from the public golf course, 5 minute walk into downtown NOTL (theater, restaurants, etc) and about a 7 minute drive to the local vineyards. Second best part of our stay: The delicious home cooked 3 course breakfast that included wonderful fresh cutted mango, warm scones and yummy french toast! We will certainly be back!

Room Tip: Sans Souci Suite was worth the extra fee, located on the 3rd floor and was in a more private setting...

We are always eager to get to Lakewinds every year now for the past decade for a 3 day stay. A most comfortable place to re-energise, within walking distance to theatres and entertainment, golf course, restaurants and shopping, close drive to wineries, antiques, and many sights of Niagara region. We enjoy the elegance of the updated mansion, large luxurious rooms, beautiful garden and pool, fine breakfast dining and most important our hosts Steve and Jane who go all out to make us welcome. There is none other comparable in Niagara on the Lake. We always book a year in advance.

This couple is one of our favourites. They seem so pleased to be at Lakewinds, which makes it us feel very rewarded. We have enjoyed their visits for many years and look forward to them returning.

Jane and Steve make you feel at home from the very first minute by giving a tour through the villa and the garden with the beautiful pool, telling what to do in the neighbourhood, best wineries, best restaurants and making bookings for you. The rooms are very romantic, silent, comfortable and luxury. The breakfast in the morning, together with all guests on one big table was delicious, everything was self made with a touch of herbs from the garden. We played golf twice at the golfcourse in front of Lakewinds and the Whirlpool, on the way to Nigara Falls. Both were nice golfcourses. We had a superb stay in Nigara on the Lake, thanks to Jane and Steve!!

Room Tip: We were on the top floor, Sans Souci, which we enjoyed very much.

Thank you for your wonderful review and for choosing Lakewinds. The chat we had about the western economies and the Euro was very interesting, as it was from a perspective we rarely get to hear. If you ever get this way again, please come back.

We have been going to Lakewinds twice a summer for at least 8 years.
In June we go with 6 of our friends, In August we meet my brother and sister-in-law and their friends. Our rooms are always very comfortable, the breakfasts are most elegant
and delicious. There are lovely touches such as sherry and nuts in the afternoon at the front table and chocolates waiting at night when you get in from dinner and or a play.
When you are leaving there is a home-made package of cookies for the trip home.
Steve and Jane are great hosts. We have met many wonderful people here who seem to return the same weekends as us each year. I have not mentioned the beautiful gardens and pool that are available to guests. We usually bring wine and cheese and have our own little cocktail hour before the evening activities. We highly recommend Lakewinds Country Manor
as your home away from home.

Room Tip: They are all good. The room on the landing is the best! (in our opinion) Has a bath/spa on upper l...

My friend and I stayed at Lakewinds in June 2013 while visiting Niagara on the Lake's Shaw Festival. We stayed in the Florentine room, which had a king bed that could be separated into twin beds.

The room was lovely with great big windows and a view onto the Lake. We were only able to stay one night but wished we could have stayed longer. The grounds were well kept and we enjoyed walking around. The house reminded me of the one my mother grew up in near Erie, Pa and it holds a special place in my heart.

We regretted that we couldn't hop into the pool upon arrival, but the reservation that Steve made at Epicurean Bistro was calling--that was delicious as well as the breakfast served at Lakewinds. We loved the dining room and found the breakfast mates to be interesting and fun to talk with.

I would highly recommend this place on all counts, style, comfort, beauty, taste, and welcoming on all fronts. Thanks for fitting us in.

Room Tip: Ask for the Florentine- front views over the lake and a golf course
