Historic Davy House B&B Inn
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 16 July 2014

I recommend Davy House without hesitation. My friend who recommended it and went with me had stayed in three or four other places in town and chose Davy House as #1. The host and hostess are gracious, the rooms beautiful, and the breakfasts are works of art. We walked everywhere and had parking in the driveway. We hated to leave!

We visit NOTL annually and have stayed at various hotels, B&B's and a private residence. We have tried to stay at Davy house in the past but it's so popular you have to really plan in advance since they are usually booked! We stayed there last week for 2 nights and weren't disappointed! Flo and Jeff are great hosts and really make you feel welcome and comfortable. The house is well maintained and the yard is wonderful! The pond, hot tub and seating area are very restful and inviting. Since we have a pond at home, we had a great conversation with Jeff about the fish, plants (and keeping the heron away from dining on the inhabitants)!
Breakfast looked almost too nice to eat-- but, we did and enjoyed it both mornings!! They use local fruits and meats and the assortment on your plate was just the right amount to give you a taste of each selection. We'll definitely consider staying at Davy House next year and hope to bring friends with us to enjoy it too. Just need to plan ahead to get the dates you want. Consider staying during the week like we do since the town isn't as crowded as weekends. Davy House is also in a great location right off Queen Street (the main street) and close to the theater and great restaurants so you won't need your car once your there.

The Historic Davy House is located perfectly for attending The Shaw Festival at Niagara-on-the-Lake: each theater is within easy walking distance. (Shops and restaurants, too.) This is the least of all reasons, however, to stay with Flo and Jeff.

I have stayed at "HDH" on more than one occasion, and the accommodations have consistently exceeded my expectations. The property is beautiful -- a great design and beautifully decorated -- and always in exceptional condition. This is not the primary reason, tho', to stay with Flo and Jeff.

The rooms are the most comfortable I've encountered at NOTL. The breakfasts are stunning, glossy-magazine-cover-worthy, and most delicious. Coffee is always fresh. I've met the most interesting people over pre-breakfast coffee and muffins in the HDH front parlor. (Still not the number one reason to stay with Flo and Jeff.)

The main reason to stay with Flo and Jeff is that you will always be warmly welcomed, encouraged to pursue whatever you wish, whether seeking entertainment, shopping, fabulous food, or simply relaxing inside the house or outside in their lovely garden. (It might be, in my mind, better named the "Heavenly" Davy House.)

At the risk of finding my future reservations more difficult to schedule due to its popularity, I recommend that you consider HDH for your next visit to NOTL.

Hats off (and many, many thanks) to Flo and Jeff for their hospitality.

2014 was our fourth visit to the Davy House. We walk to all the theaters, restaurants, and shops. Jeff and Flo prepare a fabulous fruit/ muffins/ and granola before a delicious full-plate breakfast. Actually we will book for next year shortly! I wouldn't consider another lodging in town, to be honest.

Room Tip: Each room is beautifully appointed. If you have a disability, choose downstairs.

Great place for a weekend getaway. Flo and Jeff are wonderful hosts. We felt like longtime friends even though this was our first visit. Their B&B is gorgeous making you feel welcomed and relaxed. The location is perfect. It provides a quiet place to read a book or spend time in the hot tub, and yet you’re only a short walk from all of the great restaurants and shops of downtown Niagara-On-The-Lake. I would highly recommend staying at the Historic Davy House. Oh, and did I mention the spectacular breakfasts. Thanks Jeff they were GREAT!!

The Davy House had excellent reviews on tripadvisor, so we were expecting great service. However, our stay with Jeff & Flo far surpassed our expectations....the kind and warm reception, the intricate details in the decor, the relaxing backyard that offered the perfect escape mini-putting, hot tubbing, or just reading a book, and the exceptional breakfast are just some of the phenomenal parts of staying at the Davy House. Staying at an historic house close to the main street of Niagara on the Lake was a bonus. I would highly recommend the Davy House for the service, culture, and pure hedonism it offers. Thanks Jeff and Flo!!

Flo and Jeff, just wanted to say thanks for the great hospitality that you showed my wife and I on our recent first visit to your Historic Davy House.

Your friendliness, attention to detail, and of course the delicious breakfasts clearly demonstrates your passion for being great B&B hosts.

We were both very impressed with how charmingly you have decorated Davy House, both inside and out and we thoroughly enjoyed the downstairs suite, especially the very big and comfortable bed.

The fact Davy House was so close to everything allowed us to ‘park n’ walk’ everywhere in beautiful Niagara-on-the-Lake, (including to many of your great suggestions) and it was great being able to top the evening off with a round of mini-putt and then a night-cap while relaxing in the hot tub.

Thanks again and hope we can come back soon for another visit.
