“Horse drawn carriage...”

Niagara Parks Garden Trail
Reviewed 14 October 2017

We took the horse drawn carriage tour through the Botanical Gardens. You can buy a ticket at the Butterfly house. The ride was informative, enjoyable, relaxing & wonderful. This is a great way for the elderly to see the gardens.

Great water views, shops, eateries, and the gardens everywhere just LOVELY! We felt like it was a bit of Britain with gorgeous hotel Prince of Wales. Will go back Lord willing!

This is such a beautiful part of our province! The Niagara Parks Commission does a superb job of maintaining the gardens and parks in the area. A drive along the parkway is a visual delight.

Yes, the Falls are spectacular, as well as the Gorge and Whirlpool, but the truly best part of this region is the continuous park system that runs the entire length of the Canadian side of the Niagara River, from Fort Erie to Niagara-on-the-Lake. Stop almost anywhere (with free parking outside of the Falls zone) for walking, biking, roller-blading, and, of course, picnics. The best views can be found in the Locust Grove opposite Queenston Heights.

This bike/walking path has something for everyone. It's safe, easy to navigate, and has some very beautiful views. There are wineries on the other side of the road, a few small local stores with fresh fruit and snacks, and benches along the way. This is a great place to either get exercise (plenty of people jogging/running or biking at a fast pace) or to stroll and just relax. We made an entire biking day of it taking in a couple wine tastings, visiting the fort, and stopping along the way. Bike rentals are available in several locations. Stop in at the golf course for a beer at the river front bar that sits up high and takes in a long view of the river just as you enter the course. There's an interesting graveyard near the golf course set as a memorial to the Polish WWI fighters with a plaque giving the history of it. It would be easy to divert over to the Main Street of Niagara on the Lake to grab a cup of coffee or stroll a bit before returning your bike or on the way back to your hotel by foot. Highly recommend this!
