Riverbend Inn and Vineyard
Reviewed 20 April 2011

We've visited the Falls often, have been to Buffalo too many times to count, and were delighted to choose a three day/two night visit to Niagara-On-The-Lake to celebrate my husband's birthday. Riverbend Inn was the PERFECT romantic retreat. From the moment we arrived until our departure, the staff was professional, attentive, and very helpful. Our room was spectacular with its vaulted ceiling, chandelier, fireplace, and carved furniture. The room was very clean, decorated beautifully, and the bathroom was large. The king bed was very comfortable. Who needs TV?? The balcony view overlooking the Peller winery, and evening sunset was spectacular. Everything about our visit was intent upon making us feel welcomed, comfortable, and entertained. The "local advice" was perfect -- from dining in The Angel Inn to having a delicious three-cheese omlette breakfast at The Little Red Rooster. The mussels served at the Riverbed Inn were divine. Try "The Willow" for delicious baked goods -- if you're tired of Tim Hortons! We had a wonderful wine tasting at Peller, but would recommend any of the other wineries -- who are equally as proud to promote their products. For certain, taste the "Ice Wine." We highly recommend The Riverbend Inn for your next visit to NOTL.

We've stayed three times now, all in the winter months. Every time a different room. None of the 20-something rooms are the same but all have been great. Very comfortable. Great food in the dining room and a very close drive to downtown NOTL.

The setting, surrounded by vineyards, in the heart of Niagara wine country is lovely. The food, the service, and ambiance are all first-rate. Great walking paths along the river and the proximity to the Old Town and Shaw Festival added to our enjoyment. We certainly plan to return.

After enjoying a five-course chef's tasting dinner at the neighboring Peller Estates Winery, spending the night at the lovely Riverbend Inn seemed a logical choice. We were treated to a wonderful experience. Our well-appointed room over-looked the vineyards and the Niagara River Parkway. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast in the dining room. We look forward to a return visit!

On arrival we discovered that they had only ordered two instead of three theatre tickets for the local Shaw festival despite a phne call previously to confirm. There was no porter avaiable to take our suitcases up the stairs. The room had not been restocked with toiletries or milk. Before leaving for the theatre we checked that food was available either in the bar or on room service until 11pm. On arriving back at the hotel at 10.15 we were told that the kitchen was closed and there was no chance of any food. The receptionist did her best but could only rustle up stale bread, peanut butter and cake. The arriving night porter had the audacity to suggest we drove back into town to Tim Hortons - a cheap cafe!! Next morning we were then charged three dollars each to have toast with our breakfasts!
We highlilghted all of the issues with the duty manager but she was not exactly apologetic. I would strongly advise against staying at this hotel whish is not providing the services expected of one charging top of the range prices.

This Inn is just outside Niagara-on-the-Lakes downtown with Pellar estates behind it in the distance. Our room had beautiful original hardwood floors, 12' ceilings, an elegant carved mantle over a huge fireplace and this was just your standard two double bed room. The bathroom looked like it had recently been redone. Very clean and very large. The staff were very professional and friendly from the front desk ladies to the servers in the restaurant. We had a package that included dinner and breakfast. They have a lovely terrace that looks over the vineyards that when the weather is nice you can eat out there. Both our dinner and breakfast was delicious. I would recommend the flourless chocolate cake for dessert. What a lovely place to stay while checking out a play and doing some wine tasting. We even had a complimentary wine tasting from their grapes in front of the fire in the lounge. I highly recommend this Inn and look forward to going back there very soon.

Stayed here for one night in May 2010 to celebrate our 40th anniversary. The Inn is absolutely beautiful. It has so much character. We stayed on the 1st floor, room 106. The room was quite large and overlook the vineyard. Bathroom was spotless and a good size also. Best meals we have eaten in a long time. The prices are comparable to other restaurants in the area. The only complaints we had was that we could hear the people walking about above our room and the TV reception was not that great. Beds were very comfortable. Staff were extremely friendly. We would definitley go back again.
