Silver Birches by-the-Lake B&B
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 3 October 2011

our friends in toronto knew we were going to the Niagara Penninsula and didn't have any idea where to stay. They suggested Silver Birches and we ended up stayiing for 5 nights. We enjoyed the hospitality and friendship of Paul and Leah. In the end we felt like we had become friends. It made our first visit to Ontario from B.C.really special. It was nice to return from a day in Niagara Falls or Niagara on the Lake to the special comfort of the B&B. Thanks for a special week. Dick and Meri.

Silverbirches is without a doubt the best B&B we have ever stayed at!! We were travelling to Niagara to visit some wineries and wanted a B&B to accommodate our small (6) wine group. Silver birches offered luxury rooms with ensuites in each room, hot tub, tennis courts and gourmet meals. We found the downstairs suite to be cozy, quiet and a private retreat. Paul and Leah made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived greeting us with a refreshing drink and a 5 star breakfast the next morning. Paul is a wonderful chef, he prepared a multi course dinner for our group after our first day of wine touring. We were able to bring back wines from the wineries that we visited and enjoy them with a great dinner followed by a hot tub and.... no dishes! Our multi course dinner was prearranged so that we were able to match the wine and food. We will definitely be back again and again and would highly recommend Silverbirches to our friends and family.
Thank you Paul and Leah for a fabulous weekend!!!

Room Tip: All the rooms are wonderful. Some offer 2 beds if you are travelling with children. Each room ha...

We have stayed at Silver Birches on a handful of previous trips and after a four (4) year absence we were reminded of why we enjoy it so much. Firstly, Paul and Leah are just phenomenal hosts. Their breakfasts are incomparable when matched against the standard B&B. Secondly the location is ideal for those of you who enjoy touring the wineries on the Beamsville Bench. Thirdly the beds are very comfortable and all the bedrooms have private bathrooms. If you are in the Niagara area and you like a top-notch bed and breakfast with a personal touch, Silver Birches has to be at the top of your list! Just an awesome weekend and we won't wait another four (4) years to visit again!

Room Tip: Our favourite room is the 'Merlot'.

It is one of the best places we ever stayed. The place in the middle of the wine region is perfect to explore the wineries of Ontario and the Niagara area. But the best of all is the hospitality of Leah and Paul. The room (Meritage) was very nice and absolutely that what you need to stay comfortable for some days. The highlight of our stay (… it was for 6 days - and we would have stayed longer if we could) was the breakfast. Paul is very creative to present a wonderful surprise every day. It is just delicious and keeps you happy throughout the day. Thank you Leah and Paul for those unforgettable days in Ontario. Beate&Michael from NJ

This has been a memorable event. In one word...WOW!!! All the ammenities one could want...but I didn't have enough time to enjoy. The feeling of "home" while being away from home. The food was phenominal. The surroundings tranquil and quiet. Clean and comforting. I would highly recommend the hospitality one could only receive at Silver Birches. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR ASSISTANCE TO ENSURE MY STAY WAS RELAXING & FULFILLING.
Paul and Leah, Kudos to you both.
I will be back

Room Tip: All rooms were absolutely stunning. No disappointment for any room choice.

Everything that is written about this location can be supported without limitation: Great food, helpful owners, beautiful surroundings,...
There is only one "but": I travelled with a colleague, and sharing the usual B&B-Queen bed was not our favourite. For that reason, we came across the "Riesling Suite" in SilverBirches: 2 rooms, one Queen bed, 2 single beds. Perfect, we thought - and were disappointed by the "suite" when we styed there: a rather dark downstairs apartment with scarce daylight, and only consisting of two bedrooms (with toilet and shower, naturally) - not with a suite-type equipment. Directly above these rooms: The kitchen! From six something in the morning, we could hear every step the breakfast-makers went through the thin ceiling.
Summary: a great place to stay, but not in the "suite". And, dear owners, please: Either don't call it a suite - or change the room concept...

We stayed at Silver Birches by the Lake on the occasion of our son's wedding and by the end of our stay we were sad to leave our two new friends (Paul and Leah) and Silver Birches by the Lake (a magical place where generosity, hospitality, kindness, fabulous cooking and gorgeous surroundings combine to make you never want to leave). We heartily recommend Sliver Birches by the Lake to anybody who appreciates the warmth of old fashioned hospitality along with all the modern comforts.
