Visiting the Peter Secord Inn was like stepping into the 1700's. The Inn , an historical site, is impeccable and the breakfast first class. The hospitality of David and Cole was top notch. To boot, David is quite the historian. We will definitely stay there again!

My husband and I have just returned from a two night stay with hosts Collette and Harry at the Peter Secord Inn in St. Davids, Ontario. We had driven by on one of our excursions to the area and were impressed by the initial appearance from the outside. My husband and I are not generally the bed and breakfast type and usually stay at the name brand hotels. Any inhibitions we may have had were immediately swept away when we met Harry and checked in even though we had to remove our shoes. As soon as Harry explained why, in order to preserve the original pine flooring, we were sold. We have a deep appreciation for what has gone before us and have a special interest in all of our historic gems especially those in and around the Queenston area.

The room we stayed in was extremely clean and decorated for the period. The tv was the least prominent feature and in fact we didn't turn it on for our entire stay. The bedding is so soft, a credit to the multi count egyptian cotton sheets. The bed was very comfortable and suitable for both my husbands and my different sleep requirements. (a major plus)

Saving the best for last, Collette's breakfasts border on the gourmet. Fresh local ingredients and a definite talent for presentation make these meals ones to be savoured and lingered over while Harry and Collette provide helpful information on local attractions and wine tours.

We hope an opportunity presents itself for many more visits.

Room Tip: Both rooms are immaculate the poster bed room being the larger.

Just celebrated my 50th BD this past weekend. My first experience staying at a B&B. Must say I'm not sure if we'll ever top it! The Hosts went out of their way to help us discover the area..... And! They even sang "Happy Birthday" to me while they served me birthday cake for breakfast!! The charm and love that went in to the renovations of this 230 year old home is outstanding! Spotlessly clean and comfortable. Great location.

My first time staying at a bed and breakfast and could not have asked for anything more. The house is beautiful with very interesting history. The food, house, and location were all perfect. Cole and Harry are wonderful people that were very welcoming, friendly and helpful with great knowledge of the area. I fell in love that weekend with a great man in the perfect environment. I would recommend anyone to stay and hope to me back myself sometime.
Thank you Cole and Harry you couldn't do anything better.

We booked a 3 day stay at this beautiful inn, based on the reviews found on this site. We were not disappointed. In fact, we were impressed with every aspect of our get-away. Harry and Cole are the epitome of graciousness. They are attentive and thoughtful, and take great care in catering to the needs of their guests. If you have an appreciation for history, specifically the restoration of historical dwellings, you will be astounded by the loving work that has gone into this house. It is situated on a busy street, yet the thick walls keep out most of the traffic noise. Rooms are spacious and beautifully appointed, with comfortable bed and sitting areas. A generous and delicious breakfast is served in the dining room, and the food keeps on coming! Our hosts provided us with plenty of information and recommendations for things to do and see in the area, and were eager to supply information based on our individual needs. Thank you, Cole and Harry - your home provided us with the restful time away that we were looking for, and we hope to come back again and again!

We stayed here for 2 nights at the end of our week cycling around the Greater Niagara Circle Route. Our younger daughter was learning more about the War of 1812 on this trip. Peter Secord was the uncle of Laura Secord's husband and the first United Empire Loyalist to move up from the states after the American revolution.

Harry Murdoch (he and his wife Colette are the owners) is hugely knowledgeable about history and just talking with him adds a great deal to the experience. Harry grew up in this house, and moved away and then bought the house back, and he and Cole spent several years renovating and restoring it - ask to look at the photograph album documenting the restoration.

We are excited that they are currently renovating the basement, to provide a family size bedroom that will accommodate more than two people.

What else to say? Do ask for complementary tasting vouchers - Ravine Winery is a must visit place for lunch or dinner.
