“Excellent value, great breakfast”
Reviewed 14 October 2013

Had a really nice stay, showing around some NOTL newbies. Less than ten rooms at this Inn; breakfast is included. Greeted at check-in by Cindy, who was a delight. She made the breakfasts for everyone each day. Very tasty and a great way to start off a long day of wine tasting. The rooms are motel-like; nothing special but clean and good enough for sleeping. Inexpensive and good location. Recommended for those who want to stay closer to NOTL yet not rent a house or stay in a B&B.

Room Tip: They're all pretty much the same. Cindy showed us the available rooms upon arrival and let us ch...

Arrived Friday night, was greeted by the owner who was very friendly and helpful, she even asked if we needed help with our bags!

She showed us to our rooms and advised if we were out after 1am to ring the doorbell and someone would be awake to come open the door for us! & that breakfast was at 9am.

Private washroom, fireplace, window bench, cable tv, sitting area.(no coffee maker, but Tim's and Starbucks close by down the road).

The building looked new on the outside, however being refurbished to the 'Orchid Inn' in 2006, it looks like there hasn't been any painting done since then. It definitely needs a fresh coat of paint due to a lot of black marks on walls and places where people's luggage took a nick out of the wall.

Also, if a digital lock was put on the exterior door, she could tell everyone the code when they arrive and change it at the end of every weekend. Then we wouldn't need to ring the doorbell after 1am, and she could get some sleep!

Great, quiet place, we will definitely be back and would recommend to friends!

Our small group of friends recently made our annual visit to the Inn. The owner, Cindy, did everything possible to make us comfortable and our stay enjoyable. As always, the breakfasts are superb and dining in the attached Ginger's restaurant is a bonus. We would never consider staying anywhere else when visiting the Niagara area.

Stayed here for one night in late February, with colleagues who recommended the place as they had stayed here previously. Their confidence was justified. Checkin was fast and superfriendly, they even took our cases up the staircase for us. The door to the room was a little challenging -it was hard to hold it open and manoeuvre the case in at the same time. My room was not large, so I had to sit my case on the chair by the fireplace.

Room was absolutely spotless, warm and welcoming. Cosy huge bed, and a lovely warm bathroom. I had a wonderful nights sleep. Breakfast the next morning was very nice, juice and coffee, fresh fruit and a very tasty chicken and mushroom dish on toast. My only complaint is that we were not offered a choice for breakfast, as I don't eat mushrooms - hence the slightly less than perfect rating I have given. Regardless, I absolutely recommend this gem of a place and would happily return.

Although I have written an earlier review, after our visit last week, I'd like to provide an update. We have been staying at the Orchid Inn since it opened in 2006, and while we found it quite by chance that year, I cannot imagine staying anywhere else when we visit Niagara-on-the-Lake. The inn's decor is an elegant fusion of western and eastern influences and has a wonderfully calming and peaceful atmosphere. Cindy's attention to details and caring attitude towards her guests has been consistent and genuine throughout the years. And we love the breakfasts: a delicious fusion of flavors, freshness and healthy cuisine. Fresh fruit is always part of the meal, and if you're lucky enough to be there on the day that Cindy makes banana bread, be sure to have a slice!

Room Tip: We have stayed in several different rooms. Some are smaller than others, but they all have their in...

My partner and I made a last minute decision to head to wine country for the long weekend, and the only place available was Cindy's inn. What LUCK!!!! we enjoyed a superb weekend in a lovely, spacious King bedroom suite on the second floor. Everything was very clean, we could open the windows to let in fresh air, the bathroom was nice and large, and the breakfasts were truly substantial and delicious! Eggs, peameal bacon, and a blueberry yogurt crepe with fresh fruit and toast today! Great for starting a day of biking and wine-tasting. Best of all, Cindy was a truly charming, cheerful and attentive host who really made us feel welcome and special. I was thoroughly pleased with the room, the food, and the genuinely good-natured service. I'd definitely return.

This charming boutique hotel is our favorite place to stay when visiting NOTL. The hostess, Cindy, is very accommodating and manages to run the hotel perfectly. The rooms are spotless and the furniture very comfortable. The breakfast, which is included, is spectacular. Cindy creates picturesque meals that are not only substantial but scrumptious. The restaurant - Ginger - is also a wonderful venue for dinner. The food is delicious, fresh and very inventive. We highly recommend this hotel. You will not be disappointed!
