“Looking good with the renovation”
Reviewed 7 November 2013

My company has a mandate to stay at Best Western when we travel on business. I have been staying at this hotel for the last year. Hotel started their renovation late summer this year and I am really impressed with what I am seeing. I don't care too much about the landscape at the front. The lobby and the corridor look great with the new color combination. It had the old dated look of the 70s before this. I was told the renovation of the rooms will begin shortly.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the north side will be better.

The room was very clean, self serve breakfast was ample & a great way to start a busy day, hostess was very helpful. Front Desk Staff very helpful, explained directions clearly. Would stay again when in the area.

Room Tip: Rooms on the South side are quieter.

Nice place easily accessed from highway. My room was very small. Had difficulty moving around with my suitcases in the room. Bathroom was small as well. Parking was spacious and easy to get in and out of.

Staff at this hotel from the Front Desk to Housekeeping to the Breakfast Room were absolutely great. We got in very late after our plane was delayed and the rental car agency (National) couldn't be bothered to man their desk until we got there about 20 minutes later than estimated. Consequently we were not up early enough to have breakfast but Dina, the lady who looks after the breakfast room brought us a tray of goodies and coffee anyway.

On subsequent mornings we did have breakfast and it was very good indeed featuring omelets, turkey sausages, hot cakes, hot and cold cereal, bagels, fruits, toast, juices, coffee, teas, you name it. The only drawback is the size of the room and limited seating. Dina looked after everyone very well.

The house keeping staff were very friendly and helpful and went out of their way to add nice personal touches to their room cleaning activities. We were there with our Son and his Wife and five grand children and were very pleased.

The rooms are clean, newly renovated and quite adequate. Some painting was underway while we were there but did not cause us any issues except for one exterior door that had just been painted and did not have a proper warning sign. Staff were quick to remedy that when informed of it.

There are few amenities at the hotel for family activities but it is very close and convenient to shopping areas, and the Linde Shores Conservation area which we enjoyed. It's also close to the Oshawa Military Museum which we all enjoyed as well.

All in all I would recommend this hotel and especially the staff to anyone who needs a good place to stay while visiting friends and family in Oshawa. We will return.

It's a definite improvement from when it was called the Dynasty, but it has a considerable way to go. Rooms are small, Tv's are bad, and there isn't much in the vicinity of the hotel. You are better off trying some of the places across the road (401). Much better value for your money

Our hotel is currently undergoing renovations. All of our guest rooms will offer 42" TV and granite vanity top. The guest rooms are very accommodating with the choice of one or two queen size beds. The Oshawa Center is only a short 5 minute drive from our hotel with over 100 shops and restaurants. There are also a few restaurants that we highly recommend within the 2 km radius. We hope you will come visit us again after our renovation and thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback.

Overall the hotel is very clean, staff was great. Only downfall is the lack of channels on the tv which I have mention to this hotel before. Its nice to see that the hotel was being under renovations and that for them to be there was no bother or mess. I would recommend this hotel to my friends or any other person who is looking to spend the night somewhere. Although will mention if your looking to watch tv that they have very limited channels.

The rooms are very small, with no chairs or couches to sit on. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms quite clean. We had a slight odour when we first arrived but it soon cleared out. The hallways were jam packed with guests. Kids all afternoon and parents all evening and into the wee hours. Staff did not seem willing to ask them to quiet down. Breakfast was nonexistent and the room so packed that we grabbed a few things and took them back to our rooms. We ended up throwing 1/2 of what little we took out because it was gross. Might be a good hotel midweek without the overload of guests, but a Friday night left a lot to be desired!
