We went for a tour of Rideau Hall today. As English visitors, we found it fascinating to learn the history of how our two countries gel together, and the role of your Governor General. Our Tour Guide, Mark, could not have been more knowledgable, giving us amazing insights into Governor Generals of the past and how the rooms in this beautiful house were used. We spent an amazing 45 miutes enthralled by all he told us. As it is off season currently, we had booked our tour.It was too cold to wander the grounds for long but we did see some trees planted by the Royal Family past and present and other dignitaries. I would imagine the grounds looks amazing in summer. This tour is highly recommended, we loved it. Well done Mark!!

You and your family, girl friend, Uncle, Grandma could spend hours at this location. In the summer, some evenings and afternoons they have live music, right near the front gates. My favorite thing to do is to read the plates at each tree and to realize I am standing in the exact same spot as Princess Diana or somebody else was when this tree was planted. The Kennedys, Pierre Trudeau and so many other fascinating people planted trees there, this blows me away!! The gardens are wonderful to walk through, perfect way to spend an after noon. The inside is astonishingly beautiful, well worth the visit!! In the winter they have a small lite up skating rink and a little cabin to change into your skates and warm up in, it has a wood stove in it!! The best part of doing this with your family is it is absolutely FREE!!!

Some family members went with my husband and I to tour Rideau Hall. It is a beautiful building and. One learns how different additions to the building have been added over the years. There are paintings of all the Governor Generals of Canada hanging on the walls. As well as the building, the grounds outside are well looked after and it is quite pleasant to walk around the extensive grounds.
