Rideau Hall is a stop on the hop-on-hop-off tour and a lovely place to visit. It is the residence of the Governor General of Canada. There are guards at the front gates that are like those at Buckingham Palace (the don't move). They do the changing of the guards every hour. We went on a free guided tour which was really good, however you aren't permitted to take photographs and the tours are quite long (photos are allowed when the open house is on which is after 3pm). The grounds are lovely too. Only downfall is there is nothing close by to eat, so eat before you get there and it's not really walking distance from anything in Ottawa. You need to drive or get the hop-on-hop-off your so plan your trip and times as they only drop off and pick up every hour!
