“Historical Heaven!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 June 2014

We arrived at this stunning castle like hotel on a busy Friday afternoon.
We checked in, stepped back in time, and found our spotless room, down a wide hallway.
We wandered through the main floor hallways and enjoyed the old photos, that told the incredible history of Ottawa, and the Chateau Laurier.
We had a relaxing drink in the bar, while listening to beautiful live music.
Take a look at the elevator doors, just stunning.
The hotel is centrally located and within walking distance of the Parliament buildings and the ByWard Market.
We had excellent service,a great nights sleep, and we had arrived on a busy race weekend.
Highly recommend this amazing hotel!
Starbucks is a short walk from the front door.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a higher floor, away from the elevator!

Staying in Ottawa in the spring/summer is a treat as the city is quite beautiful. Staying at the Chateau Laurier makes it an even better treat! The hotel feels very royal with the luxury of the castle like structure, and charm and location is paramount! Right next to the Parliment building, and the Rideau canal, and the downtown market it makes your stay a memorable one.

My husband and I were staying 3 nights at this hotel for a wedding with our baby, and the staff were so accomodating to our requests including a crib and just simple asks. I always love the Royal Service at the Fairmont, they aim to please and always get it right.

The concerige staff were helpful as were the reservation agents.

We would definetly go back and highly recommend this place to others for a romantic getaway, or checking out Ottawa for the first time!

Room Tip: The hotel is large so if need be, you could ask to be close to an elevator.

A last minute stay when my wife's cousin unexpectantly came to Ottawa and made a short trip to meet her. Got an excellent last minute deal. Quaint touret room. A bit dated but a marvelously comfortable bed. Valet staff were very helpful in explaining how to get out of downtown quickly when leaving. Dinner at the restaurant was very nice. Wouldn't pay the $350 normal rate (would expect more for that money), but at $190 it was nice to be able to stay at a Canadian classic. P.S. Unlike some others who have reviewed, I like the "snooty" feel. Want sweat pants and poutine..., stay at a Super 8.

If you want to be treated with respect, if you want a hotel where you feel as though you are important, and if you want to stay in an establishment that addresses their own mistakes not making them your problems, DO NOT STAY HERE!

Since we are travellng with the family (4), we booked a suite with two large beds. Sadly, the room was in a terrible shape, and given that this was the most expensive room on our Canada journey - we were very disapponted.

Upon complaining and requesting the opportunity to cancel our booking, we where offered a fresh room of basicalky the same size at a much lower price (the new room was in the Gold section of the hotel).

So, on the bad side, we where assigned a really bad and expensive room. On the plus side, it was resolved in a good way (after some pressure).

But, as a traveller I do not feel that one should have to complain to get a decent room - it should be the standard.

Best hotel we've ever stayed in, US or international. Concierge helpful in directing us to tulips. Smack in the middle of shopping at the market, where there are many good restaurants and shops. A grand building, we asked for a view of the Parliament buildings. We did not experience ANY problem at all with thin walls.
Right next to the Rideau (spelling) canal. Staff, like all the people we met in Ottawa, were helpful and friendly. Expensive, yes, but as the title says, PAMPER yourself, you're on holiday!
