We arrived an hour before check in but had no difficulty getting a room. The Wifi was free and the connection was excellent. We parked the car in the hotel lot and never used it again for the next two days. It is an easy ten minute walk to the National Gallery. We also walked for twenty minutes across the Alexandra Bridge to the Canadian Museum of History. After our visit we walked along the Voyageur Pathway on the north side of the Ottawa River and then crossed back across the river and followed the trail behind the Parliament Buildings to the Rideau Canal. There are bar fridges in the rooms at the Marriott so we were able to have a cold beer and relax in our room at the end of our walk.
We walked back to the Parliament Buildings at 9pm and walked around the grounds until the light show at 10 o'clock.
There are dozens of restaurants in Byward Market so it was easy to find a place for lunch and dinner.
The staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful and we would certainly go back next time we are in Ottawa.More
