“BAD BAD experience”
Reviewed 27 August 2014

It is the worst hotel i ever stayed in my life. No lights in the bath room. Yes.. You read it correctly.

No TV. Stained bed, couch, carpet.

Insects all over. There was not one single good point.

Please avoid if you can

Ottawa was fully booked that night, so I ended in the east end of Ottawa (already not a great part of Ottawa). So checked in to this hotel... When I got to my room there was a dirty cigarette smell and the carpets had cigarette burns. The bed once I removed the sheets, saw a really badly soiled mattress. That was it for me, I asked to have a room change, and with much huffing and puffing they moved me. It was not much better ? The next morning the front desk manager may not have understood all that I said, as English was not his primary language, but more frustrations were to be given out by them. Horrible experience all around. The crowd hanging in this hotel seems to be "workers", and there were unpleasant noises when they would return to their rooms with "guests", very echo.

Room Tip: Just don't stay here.

Not great but not awful - it's an old motel that's received some renovations to make it more like a hotel, but those renovations appear to have been a while ago, as much of the outside of the property appeared run down. The room was okay - the air conditioning worked well and the bed was comfortable; my room also had a refrigerator and microwave. The wifi was awful - the signal could barely be picked up in my second floor room, and the old square TV seemed out of date; the channel selection was good. As well, the lighting in my bathroom was just five little spotlights over the sink, making shower taking a dark experience, even when daylight was coming in through the window. Other disappointments included the awful neighbourhood that's a trek from downtown if you don't drive there, the basic breakfast that you have to go outside to get (can't be pleasant in the winter) and the unfriendly and uninterested staff that I dealt with. Would definitely think twice about coming here again.

Room Tip: Upper level rooms appear quieter

Get a renovated room and you should be ok. Location and free parking is the only reason why rooms sell in this hotel for $90+. The breakfast is a joke. It would take ATLEAST 30min to walk to parliament hill one way. So do not expect to walk too often back and forth. Room 250 was great. On the bright side across the street you have the BEST Shawarma in the world. Tip: Get the Chicken only, The garlic is too salty, ask to have little garlic and more of Hummus. Ask to have the sandwich grilled. Pay the extra 20-30 and get a better place if you have higher standards. It felt more like a motel. Service was good by front desk staff.

I was scared when I drove up to this hotel. Never have I experienced this before. I believe this is a place of refuge for prostitutes and drug addicts along with illegal immigrants working/living in the rooms with all the children. It is very old and run down, I did not feel safe and could not sleep.

The only thing this place is good for is if you want a hooker or drugs, my mother and son were also very uncomfortable. Would have had a better night sleep in my car, at least I felt safe here. Very sketchy neighborhood. go to quality inn on rideau, its decent for an extra $20.

You might chech same price hotels if you get almost same price this Location is persuasive. Airport down town number 97 bus can take you close. Breakfast free but American (low) standard. No window for fresh air , air condition works noisily. Bathroom is large enough. towels and bed sheets was clean. I did not see bugs or mold around. If you travel by car there are courtyard parking spaces free.
