Get there early at 9:30AM, get close, but not behind the chairs as they will move you away as 10:00AM approaches. Very neat, and cool to see the "bear hat" redcoats fulfill their maneuvers. We had a local next to us who explained that they were all college students working the summer at a good paying job. Good for them. Well worth seeing, but the program could be shortened by10-15 minutes!

Amazing thing to see. Get there by at least 9:30 am to get a good viewing spot for the 10 am event. East side of square fills first as the out-going guards will past right by this walkway. Multiple guards stood in 30 degree heat for hours after event for photo ops. Event will make you fall in love with you country again or help make you a fan of Canada.

The closest thing to this in the USA is probably the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknowns in Arlington National Cemetery in Washington DC. The Changing of the Guard at Parliament is an even grander spectacle involving more marching troops and bagpipes as well as a full marching band in uniforms very similar to the guards at Buckingham Palace. Highly recommended.

It was beautiful to watch and a real look into history. It had a real "Canadiana" feel to it and everyone seemed to really enjoy it.

The entire experience takes about 45 minutes. The marching band was the best part. They were very good and played some mainstream music. The ceremony seemed to drag on.
