“Expensive and not worth a second trip”
Reviewed 13 June 2014

Tried Must Kitchen and Wine Bar for a girlfriend's birthday. Restaurant is nicely appointed, the staff are friendly and attentive, reasonable wine list but that is where it ends. The tapas menu looks good on paper but the food was really not very good and very expensive. I ordered the scallops and bison meatballs. The scallops were small and average in taste. The bison meatballs were of good size but were over cooked and tasteless. The creme brûlée was not very good either. I have had much better. The consistency of the creme was almost curdled. Disappointing. The chocolate cake was good though. I wouldn't go back.

“Good Food…Terrible Service”
Reviewed 20 May 2014

Arrived here to find a homeless person walking around downstairs. Server told us he comes here often. We were tempted to leave however decided to stay based on people who raved about the food! The food was very good however it took around 1 hour to get each course. Very slow. Also they call it a wine bar however there are no really a lot of wines by the glass. However very good food.

“A decent dinner”
Reviewed 26 April 2014

Visited Must for an early dinner (5pm) on a Saturday. The restaurant was very quiet at this time – we were the only ones in the area they sat us for the first 30 minutes or so.

Between the two of us we shared four of the Small Plates. They were all tasty, but lacked in a few areas.

- Duck Poutine: large portion, very tasty, but quite heavy/rich. We felt this was the best dish of all four we tried.
- Bison Meatballs: the goat cheese & sauce on the plate were the best parts. Unfortunately we found the meat too dry.
- Prosciutto Flatbread: very good flavour, generous portion, but we found this dish extremely salty.
- Layered Mozzarella: delicious dish, our only complaint was that the tomato pieces were diced and the crostinis provided were filled with holes. That made topping a crostini with the tomato pieces nearly impossible.

The truffle chips provided to the table at the beginning of the visit were very good.

Overall we were pleased with the experience, but wouldn’t necessarily rush back. It was good, but not above & beyond. Our waitress was very nice and checked in on us regularly.

“You MUST try!”
Reviewed 17 March 2014 via mobile

Long over due, but here it is! Must Kitchen & Wine Bar is located in the byword market. Derek and I went a few weeks ago on a Saturday night and had a wonderful experience! We were greeted by a lovely hostess and brought to our table in this historic building where we were served a welcoming (and complimentary) salmon mouse starter followed by Fresh made in house seasoned chips, yum!! The Decor is lovely with local artist displays and on weekend they have a live Spanish guitarist playing which we really enjoyed. We loved the variety of the wine list ( ok I enjoyed the wine list!) You can also try a flight of wines if you are unsure of what to try. must offers an interesting menu that had sharing plates and if you aren't good at sharing- full sized dinner portions as well. We are good at sharing so that's what we went with. We loved the scallops ( I hope no one saw me lick the plate) and the beef carpaccio salad was amazing too! The wild game ribs were hands down the most amazing ribs I have eaten ( sorry Pepperann Sanders) ( they were Bison ) Derek Ellwood and I finished our night off with a slice of double chocolate stout cake! All in all a wonderful experience and we will be back again!
