This was the first time we visited this hotel. We have stayed in the attached hotel before but there were no rooms left when we booked. So we decided to try this place. I have no complaints. Check-in was quick and friendly. The rooms were clean and spacious. We stayed on the 11th floor and it was quiet. They provided a rollaway bed for free. Parking was plentiful and free (We parked first and then checked in and just brought a piece of paper back to the car to put on the dash). The little convenience store area was stocked and included frozen dinners (Microwave and sink in room). There is a decent restaurant as well. I would stay here again. Also, just a note on why I didnt give 5 stars... For all my reviews a 4 star is perfect. 5 stars is only given for going above and beyond expectations. I do not give out 5 stars very often. That doesnt mean this hotel did anything wrong.

When it comes to hotels, it might be fine to try new things, but it's comfortable to return to places at which you know you will receive excellent service.
Such was the case when we arrived at the Marriott Courtyard East in Ottawa, Ontario, after almost seven hours of driving from our hometown of Collingwood. Parking is underground, easy to navigate and free of charge with your room rental. The area from a parked car and including the elevator vestibule is well illuminated, making one feel safe and that's a good thing.
We checked in with a cheerful fellow, John, at 7.15 p.m., and were delighted to find that we were being given a room on the 13th floor, number 1316 to be exact. This room was close to the room we had been given about a year ago for a previous stay.
From those rooms we had an excellent view looking toward the Parliament Buildings' area of Ottawa. This hotel is located on Coventry Road and is easy to find and get to from Highway 417 which bisects this capitol city. The hotel is at the junction of Coventry Road and Vanier Parkway and just steps away from a sports complex.
Our room was spotless, had a mini-fridge and a large television. Everything we required worked properly, including the wi-fi.
We went for a late dinner at this hotel's Bistro restaurant and found it to be excellent. The Bistro also offers a large bar area for those so inclined. Our server at the Bistro, called Karishma, was excellent.
The next morning, we were up early and headed upstairs to the top floor where there is a swimming pool. There, we met a fellow called Dennis who was heading to Blue Mountain/Collingwood area (where we live!) right after his family finished at the pool and hot tub and had breakfast.
There is a lot of window area surrounding the pool and encompassing an adjacent work-out room.
The Courtyard East is a short drive to the St. Laurent Mall and another shopping area called the Trainyards. Front counter staff (thanks Amirza and John!) at the hotel was very helpful at directing us to destinations.
One thing we noticed at the Courtyard East Marriott was a sign in their elevators: “Do not jump in elevator”. Turns out that some children had been jumping up and down in an elevator. As a result, some alarm, or something, went off and the youngsters were trapped in that elevator for 15 minutes, or so. The kids got a scare, I suspect, and brought on the posting of that warning sign.
We enjoyed our stay at the Courtyard East and would stay there again. We promise not to jump in any elevators.

Room tip: We enjoyed a room on the 13th floor looking west.

We've stayed here twice now in the past month. Both times we booked a King Bed room. What a delight! A huge amount of room. Think "where would a second queen bed go?" Well all that space is open, there's a sofa, a table, and chairs. The desk is easy to work on . There's a fridge in the room, and a coffee maker so you can look after yourself during your stay. Their weekend rates are GREAT! I assume week days they're hitting the business or government market, a bit out of my pay grade. But weekend rates are fabulous!

The Bistro has a good buffet. My wife mentioned she'd have taken the buffet, but didn't care for scrambled eggs. So the waiter offered her a pair of eggs any way she liked it, and so she enjoyed the buffet and had a pair of over-easy fresh off the grill.

Room tip: If you're a couple, get the KING bed. You'll love the extra space.

This hotel was very nice. Underground free parking, very clean huge rooms, nice staff. One restaurant we ate at twice. (Would be nice if they offered a reduced rate for people staying at the hotel for the breakfast buffet) The hotel was 5 minute drive to the university of Ottawa. Very happy with our stay.
