“Only Indian downtown worth the time”
Reviewed 1 November 2012

The food is wonderful here. The hospitality welcoming. The prices very reasonable for the quality. The decor is outstanding.

The food is fresh, not too salty nor greasy like many "Indian" places. The dishes are good and tasty without offerings that are way to rich. It is like baby bear's food, "just right."

This premises are clean. Patio is elegant, relaxing and fun. (I don't understand previous reviewer's remark about "appearances being deceiving" because this beautiful building looks good and delivers.)

“Looks can be deceiving!”
Reviewed 5 October 2012

Tried this restaurant courtesy of a Groupon. Walked in at 6pm on a lovely Fall Thursday evening. Decor was ....on par with food type, charming/eclectic. Waitress was polite and timely. We had the place to ourselves for half of the meal, about 45 minutes. Food was great! App yummy, Steamwhistle cold, and sample plate of 3 meat/alts with different sauces very tasty and just the right amount. Rice was flavourful and cooked perfectly, lamb, chicken meat tender and tasty. We retired to the lounge area after for another beer and chatted behind the sheer coloured curtains on the couches and chairs. Great place, great food, thank you Grouponfor your awesome deal in making us try this place. Would go back In a minute.

“Some classics, some twists”
Reviewed 15 September 2012

We ate at Buddha for the first time recently and were really pleased with the atmosphere, the food and the service. The menu is reasonably priced compared to many Indian restaurants and the chef is really engaged in the customer's experience. Great classics like butter chicken, alongside some interesting twists. Everything was delicious. The décor is obviously the work of someone who takes a personal interest. Every nook and cranny has something unique and personal, right down to the bathrooms. The service was relaxed and personal. Definitely one to add to the list of favourites.

“Pretty decent, good food at a fair price”
Reviewed 9 June 2012

Visited in May 2012 for an early dinner on a Saturday. Restaurant was close to empty when we arrived around 6PM but close to full when were done.

Menu is good, fairly priced. With two of us we started with pakoras and they came with a variety of condiments - one spicy chutney, one not as spicy, and one yogourt-based sauce (maybe raitha?). Quite nice, really hit the spot.

For the main courses we had a butter chicken, an eggplant dish, and a shrimp dish. All were quite good and all came with very different sauces. Too many Indian restaurants in town seem to serve all their dishes with the same sauce with some small variation.

Most impressed with the size and quantity of the shrimp - they did not attempt to skimp here. Naan was decent, early reviews panned their naan but they seem to have sorted that out.

One oddity is that each dish comes plated as if it is for one person, with a portion of rice and a bit of green salad on the side. It seems strange as I'm sure most tables want to eat dinner family style, where everyone gets a bit of each dish.

Decor is nice, a clean modern design, fashionably dark colours.

There were only two of us, but this would be a suitable place for a family if your kids like Indian food.

I'd come here again.
