“Good vegetarian food, can be hit and miss”
Reviewed 6 March 2013

I am not vegetarian but enjoy the Peace Garden regularly. I eat here once per week or once every two weeks. There are many soup options, which are delicious!
My favourite dishes are the Saag Paneer, the mushroom burger, the vegetable lasagna as well as the coconut-carrot soup.

The salad or side salad is excellent. Besides lettuce there are carrot slices, beets(?), and sprouts which give it a great crunch! The tamari mayo salad dressing is to die for. Probably the best salad I have ever eaten.

The daily specials are great! They run approximately $12 per plate. Occasionally, however it's obvious that the daily special was frozen and thawed. The flavours and textures are just not the same when frozen.

The service is okay. They mean well, but sometimes it's a few minutes before you get your meal. It's a bit of a catch-22 because they are located with other fast food facilities, but takes a little longer to get your meal, unless you serve yourself to the soup.

“Great for lunch”
Reviewed 15 December 2012

You'll find Peace Garden centrally located in Ottawa's Byward Market. You almost (but not quite) forget you're in an odd location in a shopping mall as there is lots of greenery and a waterfall about. There are various fake meat type options (I had the BLT sandwich and really enjoyed it) as well as Indian food, vegan sweets and shakes. The vacant eyes of the staff and their attire really speak to the cult involvement of this place, but they were friendly and provided fast service and delicious food at very reasonable prices. A good place to stop at for a quick bite to eat at lunch.

Ive just been to Peace Garden in the Byward Market, a beautiful, peaceful atmosphere with spiritual touch. The staff are wonderfully accomadating and kind to the customers...and the food is outstanding! I never knew vegetarian could taste so AMAZING!!! The spring rolls are to die for and I've never had a special I wasn't ooing and awing over! The vegan truffles and vegan cheese cake are musts! I've developed a nice relationship with these people over time and find them of the kindest , most sincere people I've ever met. Thank you Peace Garden...heres to another 20 years!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a love/hate thing for this place. It's operated by a cult, the staff are usually out of towners, except for the deaf dude who has been there forever (nice guy).

Food is great, sri chimnoy vibe is icky

“very pleasant and comfortable restaurant”
Reviewed 26 October 2012

This is a great spot for a full meal or just a snack. The food is uniquely prepared, nicely presented and reasonably priced. We 3 arrived on a quiet evening, about an hour before closing. The gentleman at the front, maybe the owner, was eating his dinner. Yet, without any hesitation, he took our order and treated us in a very professional, kind manner.
Everything looked delicious. We ordered from the blackboard specials and were very pleased.
It is a quiet oasis, hidden away behind a Starbucks, inside the lobby of an office mall. Do try it if you are in Ottawa, near the market area.
