We were able to partake in the very hospitable B & B. Our host and owner Sandra made our stay very enjoyable. The property just off the beach is spacious, hot tub easily enjoyed under the oak trees, breakfast bountiful and varied each day of our stay, very tasty. Sandra made us very welcomed and provided expert tips on touring the island.

Room Tip: The suites in the back section are quiet and spacious

I would highly recommend this property. Sadly we only stayed for one night on our way to Cleveland. The ferry service is an easy way to get your vehicle to the island. We left from Kingsville, ON and after our stay took the ferry to Sandusky, OH.

When we arrived Sandra was outside tending to her beautiful very well kept property. We got to see some rare creatures (hummingbird moths) which was very exciting. Sandra then walked us through the main house showing us all the ammendities. When we booked we had explained that we had food allergies. Sandra had no issues preparing the items we brought and added her special touch with garden fresh items from her garden.

I am usually in need of "things to do"! I found the Inn and Island great for simply exploring and being outdoors. The Pelee Island Winery is highly recommended and Sandra provided us with complimentary passes. We also made the journey out to the light house, which gives you a nice view of the lake. We covered most of the island by car in a couple hours. We have many areas that we will explore in more detail on our next trip.

The room was very nice and spotless. It was nice to simply lay in the hammock and listen to the sounds of nature. The bed was comfortable and restful. We did not get a chance to use the hot tub, but it looked very inviting.

Thank you Sandra for tending to our dietary challenges. You have a beautiful Inn, we will be back.

We stayed for two nights in the main house along with two other couples who are friends. The names on the doors of the rooms are cute and the decor in each room is unique. The rooms are a bit small but it wasn't an issue as we only went to our room to sleep. We were concerned we'd be tripping over each other for a bathroom but that was never an issue there are 6 bathrooms to choose from. The common areas are clean and inviting, we made use of the living room, screened in Gazebo and the barbecue on the deck. The gardens are planted with flowers that invite birds and butterflies, we were delighted when Sandra introduced us to our first time seeing a hummingbird moth.

It is very evident that Sandra really cares about making an inviting place for you to visit this is never more evident than in the breakfast. It started each morning with coffee, fruit, baked goods and jams and ended with a hot meal. We had a different breakfast each day and you could tell each meal was made with care.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Wandering Pheasant it was a low key, relaxing weekend that we were able to enjoy with friends. We definitely recommend a visit here,

Room Tip: We stayed in the main house, the rooms are small but inviting. We took a peek at the suites located...

This is the place to go if you just want to relax. The suites are the best, as you have your own bathroom and porch to sit out on at night. The beds are perfect, so comfortable. We have come here several times and it gets better every year. Sandra and Rita, the Inn keepers are very friendly, they enjoy what they do and you feel that when you arrive.
This is a great place to get away and go to the winery for some wine and food, then enjoy the hottub on the grounds at the Inn and then sit in the hammock on the porch of the suite. How relaxing is that. Can't wait to go back....

My husband and I (along with our car and kayaks) enjoy the 2 hour ferry ride from Sandusky OH that transports not just our luggage but our minds to a different place. The Canadian island of Pelee is a unique and special place to "practice doing nothing". The island is unspoiled by commercialism and has a laid back feeling that is just right for a get away that really lets you feel like you've had a break from your busy life. Biking is a joy on the island because of so few cars and the scenery is great-very safe, too. The Wandering Pheasant Inn provided my husband and I with a soul refreshing experience that we are still relaxed from and we cannot wait to return. Sandra and Rita have done a wonderful job creating a lodge experience that is very rare to find. The care that they take to make the historical home feel welcoming is truely what makes the place feel so special. I loved the no shoe policy and enjoyed walking on clean floors in my bare feet. I also loved the quietness (except the soothing sounds of the "ocean" thru my bedroom window) as the beautiful grounds are rendered a kid/pet free zone. Food was so fresh and beautifully prepared! We LOVE this place and the met Canadians that were so wonderful. Great conversation with lovely people who made us feel like we were family on a vacation together. If you seek a gentle sweet spot to just sit and think about things, this is it. No TV to interfere with sitting down with a good book in the lovely living room. The decor is just right. Not stuffy or pretentious but interesting and cozy. All the bedrooms have a fun theme and contain little thoughtful touches that show the attention to detail Sandra and Rita have given to each room. They are two sweet cousins that work so hard to make everyones stay enjoyable and are both are really special people. I recommend this Inn whole heartedly!

This is a rustic old inn with a lot of charm, located on Pelee Island, which is also rustic with a lot of charm; but we were taken by surprise when we were told upon arrival to take off our shoes and leave them by the front door! Unlike a ryokan in Japan, however, there were no slippers at hand for us to put on, so we had to go barefoot, which was a bit unpleasant at first. But once we got used to this practice, it was no problem. The bedrooms each had a delightful theme -- heaven's gate, the music room, the winery, and such -- and were quite small, but you have to remember that this had been a hunting club 100 yrs ago. Bathrooms were shared, but everything was immaculate, and the breakfast was perfect, esp. the freshly baked muffins. My husband is vegan, and Sandra and Rita went out of their way to accommodate him. We need more time to explore Pelee by bike, so plan to come back in the fall when the birds are heading south from Canada. Pelee is the southernmost point in Canada, and this inn the southernmost inn! Only one ferry leaves the US daily, so be sure to book passage on it before making any reservations on the island. You will need your passport. Four ferries go between Pelee and the Canadian mainland, so traveling north from Pelee is easier.

Room Tip: If you pay a bit more, you may choose a suite, which is on one floor and has its own private bath, a...

We had a wonderful time on Pelee island . Very relaxing. Sandra and Rita even made it more enjoyable. They are friendly and willing to please. When driving down the lane way this inn gives you a welcoming feeling. The inn is very clean and homie. You start your day with fresh coffee , juice, muffans, home made bread and jams etc. The breakfast was wonderful. If they were serving somehing you didn't like they were more then willing to get you something else. It was very hot when we stayed on the island the inn was very comfortable. The screened in area gives you a chance sit and chat with other traveller's. Make sure you bring bug spray if you plan to do any walking. If you think you need something make sure you bring it with you there is no general store. The winery has a great the tour. We liked that after we did the tour and the taste testing then you could enjoy the beautiful gounds. Purchance a bottle of wine and some food go out the back to BBQ your food drink your wine and enjoy the peaceful surronding. We hope to return someday and will stay here again. Thanks Sandra and Rita for making this stay one to share with are freinds and family.
