“Good stay, not excellent but good!”
Reviewed 15 August 2012

Spent one night here for our 5 year anniversary. Thought the staff may offer a "romance package" that we'd pay for but they did not. Asked staff for a mexican restaurant - they said they had all closed down in Peterborough. As we were driving home from eating elsewhere, we drove past a mexican restaurant down-town Peterborough. It looked good! we were bummed we never found it sooner.

It's totally worth paying the extra money to get the water-view. Totally!! So glad we did it. It's quite and relaxing being on the water side of the building.

I think this is one of the better places to stay in Peterborough due to proximity to anything you want - and the waterview room is quite nice. It wasn't one of the best places I've stayed (and I'm a Holiday Inn budget traveler), but I'd stay here again.

Thank you for sharing your comment and we are glad you enjoyed your stay with us.

We are sorry we lead you astray with the Mexican restaurant, my staff and myself will make sure we update our restaurant list so all the options are on there for our guests and thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Couldn’t agree with you more about how great the riverview rooms are, especially with the fall coming as once the nights cool down there is a misty fog over the river and lake in the morning. It is a very relaxing way to start your day

We do hope to see you again soon and hope you enjoy the rest of your summer.

I want to thank the most INCREDIBLE staff at the Holiday Inn in Peterborough! I came up to drop my son off at hockey camp and was exhausted after my 8 hour drive...had a fantastic dinner at their restaraunt and the best sleep ever. Came back 5 days later to be greeted by the beautiful Eva, only to go to my room that had a nice handwritten note from the cleaning staff and the air was on (it was brutally hot and humid out that day!). I wanted to lose my passport and be put on payroll! I hope to go back one day and visit my friends back at this Holiday Inn. Thank you ALL for your unbelieveable hospitality! You treated my children and I like family! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! xoxo Laura Kierstead-Stewart :-)

WOW! Thank you for sharing your comments and making our team feel so good about the job they are doing. Our whole team works very hard to make sure every guest feels the way you do and they love to see nice comments on here. It’s funny I actually went to the same hockey school as your son when I was a child and remember staying here with my parents before and after. Thank you very much for having your Family fun with us and we will see you again soon.

I have stayed at the Holiday Inn in Peterborough several times over the past 25 years. I recently stayed there as part of a reunion weekend with some university friends. The hotel is still a bit pricey for Peterboruogh but it is the best place to stay in the city for several reasons.

1. Location-It is right on the main street in downtown Peterborough. It is within walking distance of all of the local bars and restaurants as well as the city bus terminal.
2. Facilities-It has a nice restaurant as well as a great outdoor restaurant/bar/pool area. The outdoor bar is reminiscent of something you might find on a beach in Florida. It is located right on the water in the back part of the hotel.
3. Rooms-Keep in mind this is a Holiday Inn so don't go expecting the greatest rooms in the world. They are nice though. They are clean and spacious. We had rooms on the main floor in the back of the hotel which means we were right by the water and a 1 minute walk from our sliding door to the pool and bar.

One thing to keep in mind is that you need to book ahead. It is really the only big hotel located downtown and it is often booked well in advance. It was busy the weekend we were there because of a couple of weddings.

One other added bonus is live jazz on Friday nights during the summer.

If you are ever going to Peterborough the Holiday Inn is your best bet.

My wife and I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn, George St. Peterborough (weekend of July 27, 2012). We booked a hart to hart package, with a riverview room. Excellent value - included a bottle of wine, a movie and a 20 dollar voucher for breakfast, and a guaranteed room overlooking the Otanobee River. The check in staff were delightful to deal with, prompt, courteous and welcoming. The room itself was a deluxe, with a sofa and living area next to the bed, which was very comfortable. We happened to check in during the hotel's blues festival lineup and could hear an excellent live band from our room which overlooked the river and gave us a view of the hotel's outdoor patio as well. The dining room was very nicely appointed, as was the bar. Breakfast was very good, as was the service. Negatives - the pillows on the bed were small and lumpy - reminiscent of those found at a teen's summer camp. The air conditioner, worked well, but was loud. Still - apart from those two observations, we felt the value for money was excellent and would be very happy to stay at this hotel again. My biggest complaint with the hotel is an issue of lack of luxury accommodations. The hotel has only two or three suites I believe and a limited number of deluxe rooms, so trying to book something a little nicer or special is difficult due to a lack of availability. If they ever renovate, I hope they knock out some walls and add some suites !

Room Tip: River view rooms are worth the extra money. The hotel is very long, so if you have difficulty walki...

I am glad you enjoyed you staff and thank you for the nice comments about your hotel. We are happy to have live blues bands every Friday night in our gazebo patio during the summer season and when you have a Riverview room you get to enjoy the music from your room.
We are planning major renovations for late 2014, early 2015 and we will definitely take a look into the feasibility of making some more suites during that process.
Thank you again for choosing to spend your night with us and we look forward to seeing you again soon

We just came back from a mini-vacay, where we stayed at two different hotels, the second one being this fabulous hotel on the river. From the moment we walked in till we checked out ,we received nothing but the best quality service, and concern for our stay. Our room was beautiful, one king, but felt like a suite, clean as anything and fresh, beautiful de core. The best part of this was the manager made us feel very special and welcome, treated us like celebrities! You must stay here, it's luxurious and the food is delicious!

Room Tip: Pick a room on the river, overlooks a beautiful gazebo, pool and of course the lovely river!

Title says it all. Outstanding service from a chain hotel that lets its staff have personality. I stayed city facing (cheapest room available). Perfectly good room, though as others have said the bathrooms need rennovation - and I'd suggest before 2013 rather than during 2015...At least put better lighting in them. Too dark. City facing was fine. No street noise. One irritation was the street facing rooms don't have a desk you can do any work at. Round table and comfy arm-chairs only. Very nice but not so great if you have reports etc to write on the road. The upside is their wireless extends at full strength to the whole riverside bar area, so you can do the dull stuff in a very pleasent place if needed! For a "small fee", like everything in this hotel, you can upgrade to a water fracing room with desk etc.
The staff are great. Helpful, accommodating and fun. A little odd in my old fashioned reasoning, the houskeepers like to fill your room with little cards saying what a nice guest you are, every day, even when you've never met them. I got an origami whale from them on Friday. No doubt it's in someone else's room today. But they do a fine job and everything is spotless.
Food is also good - the best I've had at a Holiday Inn. Breakfast hits the target. Weekdays has a buffet on offer, Sundays menu only. Missed Saturday so can't comment. Eggs, bacon & the usual fried stuff, fresh fruit, pastries & toast/bread, cereals.

Thank you so much for choosing to stay with us and for your nice comments. We like to let all the staff show who they are while at work, that’s what attracted us to them in the first place, so it is nice when their personality shows through and guests see that.

The way the rooms are set up, all the King size rooms, both city and river views, have a desk and ergonomic chair where all rooms with 2 double beds, both city and river, have the activity table and no desk. So when you come back if you didn’t want to be on the river but wanted a desk you could book one of our king cityview rooms,

We look forward to seeing you at our hotel again soon and hope you have a great summer

We stayed here en route to points further 'east' in June. The front desk person was extremely helpful and courteous (which is a stunning rarity these days) even though she had an orbit of people around her. The room overlooked the fab pool and was clean and well appointed. And the pool? Awesome. My son loved the indoor/outdoor thing as did I.

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay with us and thanks for the nice comments, both the indoor and the outdoor portion of the pool are open all year round so if next time you come through town is in the winter make sure you check it out. It is neat to be in a pool outside when it is snowing.

Hope to see you again and thank you again for the nice comments
