Owner description: Brock's Monument National Historic Site towers over picturesque Queenston Heights, Ontario. The monument measures 56 metres (185 feet) in height and is the largest monument of its kind in Canada. Situated on the site of the Battle of Queenston Heights where British and American soldiers struggled for the destiny of two nations, Brock's Monument is the final resting place of Major General Sir Isaac Brock and his Aide-de-Camp Lieutenant Colonel John Macdonell.

You can see this monument as you enter the area- make your way to it as it has interesting historical information and includes a tribute to Canadian Indian Tribes.

Beautiful park . A chance to spend some quiet reflection in a busy travel schedule. You can actually picture what happen during this battle. Great views of Niagara River and USA across the river

This is something I would have never known about or heard of,
But while driving by noticed it & pulled in.
the Monument is in a beautiful park.

There are 235 steps to the top, the friend I was with didn't seem to want to climb, Up not sure if the issue was the climbing or the few $'s or what, so he enjoyed the park & views while I climbed up alone, soon after me there was a couple who came up, said they used to live in the area & now come back every year & climb up the 235 steps & hope to be well enough to do it until they are real old

Brock's Monument - 235 stairs to the top.
Magnificent view towards Lake Ontario in the north and Niagara Falls in the south.
Brock's present monument was rebuilt in 1853 after the original monument was bombed by a terrorist in 1840.

FYI I clicked there is a fee for this attraction, NOTE; The fee is ONLY to walk up to the top, one can enjoy the park @ no fee.

When visiting Brock's Monument, please stop at the McKenzie Printery at the bottom of the hill of the monument ( just off the Niagara Parkway), to learn about the "birthplace of liberty" for Canadian independence from Britain. The tour guides are quite knowledgeable, and are eager to enlighten all visitors to the history of not only Mr. McKenzie, but the history of printing. You also get to leave with a commemorative scroll with your name printed on it. ( I did not know that "cut to the chase" was term originating from printing.)

I am 50 and grew up in the area. As a child, racing to the top of the Brock Monument was my favorite thing to do in Niagara. This is an under-rated and inexpensive attraction that your kids will love (and maybe you too). It is challenging though and you need to be up for the climb.
